| Need Suggestions!!!! I have to give my scampers some benadryl for his allergies. I use a syringe to do it, the only problem is he absolutely hates it. He sees the syringe and goes crazy. It is so hard to give him the medicine, he kicks, screams, bites, and scratches. He won't hold still for anything. And giving a pill is not an option, he seem to know when it is hidden in food and when I put it down his throat he has learned how to throw it back up!! So I want to try to train him to like the syringe. What liquid can I put in the syringe that he will love so I can get him use to take his medicine? I didn't want to give him milk, but I do not know what else to give him. I have even tried sugar water, didn't work. If you have any ideas I would love to hear them!!

| Milk is one. Egg Yolk is another. There are lots of liquids out there. Now this one may seem real gross, but I will suggest it. Blood. I feed my dogs raw (raw meat, bones, and eggs) and routinely trick them into eating things with blood. If you can handle it, they (from my experience) love it! Any meat packed container from your grocery store (sliced beef heart from Walmart has the most) will contain alot of blood. It's rich in smell and taste. I may seem like a nut now, but I swear it works. |

| Maybe mix the liquid with some yogurt. Oscar loves yogurt! And that would be easy to suck up into a syringe too.

| I used to give my CockerSpaniel the pill form of Benedryl, you might try that. Check with your vet on dosage, you will probably need to halve or quarter the tablet depending on your pups weight. |

| I was going to suggest pill form also. You could use chicken broth in the syringe. |

| I just recently got mine to take benedryl by mixing it with nutrical......just stir real well and it seems to sort of melt. It might work in a syringe. |
