| Barking [F] HI MY YORKIE FRIENDS. MY LITTLE ZOEY IS 16 MOS. OLD NOW IS SUCH A SWEET HEART UNTILL A DOG OUTSIDE IS SPOTTED OR SOMEONE WALKING DOWN THE STREET AND THE BARKING STARTS. SHE RUNS FROM THE WINDOW TO THE DOOR BARKING LIKE NO TOMMORROW. I REALLY DO NOT MIND A LITTLE BARKING BUT THIS IS VERY ANNOYING. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO TRAIN HER NOT TO BARK ON COMMAND? SHE IS A LITTLE SPIT FIRE WHEN I HAVE HER OUTSIDE ON HER LEASH...SHE SEES ANOTHER DOG AND ALWAYS BIGGER THAN HER LITTLE 6 POUND BODY AND SHE GOES NUTS. I AM JUST AFRAID SHE IS GOING TO BARK AND ANNOY THE WRONG DOG AND SOMETHING AWFUL WILL HAPPEN EVEN IF SHE STILL IS ON HER LEASH. THESE ARE LITTLE DOGS WITH GREAT BIG ATTITUDES AND I LOVE HER SOOO VERY MUCH.[/FONT] THANKS FOR ANY INFO ON TRAINING HER ON NOT TO BARK SO MUCH. SHE IS VERY WELL KNOWN IN HER NEIGHBORHOOD AS THE FEARLESS LITTLE YORKIE!! WE HAVE A PIT BULL 2 HOUSES DOWN AND NOW YOU KNOW WHY I WORRY SO MUCH.

| Here is a link to the dog whisperer website. I believe he covers barking on there. The show I watched where he deals with barking dogs, he usues his hand to bite at the dog when it barks and makes a shhhhht sound. The dog stops barking. Eventually you will be able to control it with just the sound. I would deliberately put her in situations where you know she will bark and when she does, use your hand like a dogs mouth and bite her on the shoulder and make a sound, any sound that you choose. She should stop, when she starts in again, bite her again. Practice this daily until all you have to do is make the sound. Good Luck. http://www.dogchannel.com/dog/expert...aspx?WT.srch=1 |

| I used the coins in a can trick and it works beautifully. Maddie immediately stops barking and now all I have to say is, "Do I need to get the can?" I took it with me on a walk once as she also used to bark at people and other dogs. It only took one time and she doesn't bark any more...even if a dog is barking at her. She is scared to death of "the can" and acts as if I've beaten her with it or something, but it sure has worked for me. Good luck!
