| Play pen and crate??? So I am about to start the shopping.. real shopping. ... So people have both play pen and crate? or you have one of them? Then if you have a play pen, do you put pee pad all over the floor just in case or... what do you put it on the floor.. and do you put only one pee pad on the side? I would think I would put one pee pad on the side, then what do you put on the floor to be safe? You know what I mean!!!

| I use a crate and an exercise pen. Since I am training Emmy to go potty 100% outside, I put the pee pee pads lined up under a blanket in her exercise pen. She doesn't know they are there and if she does have an accident at least there is no mess on the floor. I have her sleep in her crate and when I go to school or work I have her in the exercise pen. So far we have had no accidents in either on!! I just started keeping her in the exercise pen though about a week ago because I think she is ready and can hold it enough! Hope that helps out a little!!! -Ashley & Emmy |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I bought a dog playpen and it has been great. I put her bedding at one end and her wee wee pad at the other. She has been trained in it since I got her. She never soiled her bedding and trained in about 2- 3 weeks. It has one end zippered so I leave it open during the day and she uses it for her wee wee pad and sometimes just goes in to take a nap. Then if noone is home she is locked in there and goes right to sleep. I also have a crate for taking her in the car.

| I have an x-pen and a crate also.. My babies use the crate at night only to sleep. The x-pen is used when we go out or when they can't be in my immediate view. The crate has no pee pads in it, but the x-pen does. I do take them outside, but when they are in the x-pen it's because I'm either gone or very busy. I don't want them to have accidents so that's why I have a pee pad in there. |

| So, what should a person look for/avoid in a playpen? Stupid question: are there actually "dog" playpens, or are we talking "baby" playpens? |

| I use a baby playpen... The first one that I had for Gracie was one of those old HUGE ones. Now she has a Graco Pack N Play, great for traveling with BTW! Her bed is on one side and potty pad/food/water on the other side. She is only in it at night for sleeping, right next to my bed!
