| Eating her poop Bella is very good about going poop on her wee wee pads both in the kitchen and family room but the problem is I have to be right there as she then eats it if I don't get the pad and wipe her the second after she is done. Does anyone else yorkie do this? How can I stop it? or maybe I can't?

| When she does this be very firm and say "NO". After a couple of times she'll learn. My Yorkie Jasmine doesn't do this, but my Lab does. It is so discusting. It is normal though. |

| My pup did this and then he just stopped as he started getting older. So yours might just stop also.

| My pup did this and no matter how much I told him "NO" or tried to stop him he'd still eat it. He was fast too. He'd even find cat poop in the yard and eat it. I thought he would outgrow it, but he didn't. This is what I did. I put a little bit of Accent (flavor enhancer) on his food. The MSG in it makes the poop taste bad. My dog uses the bathroom outside, so I would sprinkle cayenne pepper on his old poops and the cat's poop. Don't worry he didn't eat it. He just got a whiff and he didn't want any of that action. I don't know if it was the Accent or the pepper but he stopped eating poop in just one day. Last edited by Ringo; 04-10-2005 at 10:51 AM. |

| THe thing about scolding them, telling them No, i've heard.. they might get it confused with pooping. so they might think you are scolding them for pooping. which i don't want to do because he just started pooping onthe pads again 100% lol.. i posted this on another site, and they told me this.. http://www.greatdanelady.com/articles/stool_eating.htm often it's just something puppies do and they get over it. you can try feeding him some pineapple, which is supposed to make the poop taste less appealing (but doesn't poop already taste bad? ). it might not work, but it's harmless at the very least. |

| You can spray the poop with bitterapple. It works the bad part is you have to get there before they do.

| Huh!!!! Thats strange how different dogs have different responses to bitterapple. We also spray it on our feet to keep Chachi from nibbling on our feet and it works. I would try the accent. I've heard before that this works also.

| Eating Poop Caesar did it from the day I broght him home. 10 1/2 weeks old. He will be 6 mo. old the 15th. I bought these pills called Deter at my local PetSmart. One pill a day (chewable) per 10 pounds for 2 weeks. If still does it after 2 weeks increase by another dose. Caesar weighed about 4 pounds when I first bought them. I would chop the pill in half and give that to him daily. He stopped until I forgot to give him a pill one day then right back at it. So I started with one pill. He doesn't eat the pill as well if it isn't broken. But it does work. He will still eat any poop outside if he can get away with it but he is always on a leash outside so I can control this. Hope this helps. Christie |
