going to pick up our yorkie tomorrow hi everyone, we're going tomorrow to pick up our first yorkie. I'm sooo excited and we're going to surprize my son he doesn't even have a clue we're going. He's the last one out of the litter and he is 8 weeks old. I know basiclly what to look for when getting a puppy but is there anything specific for yorkies that I should look for?

| have you checked around for good breeders? if you know you have a good and responsible breeder, everything should go smooth. but usually yorkies aren't allowed to leave there mom until about 12 weeks of age because they are so small. tip: if you baby is very small, keep nutrical on hand so that he does not get dehydrated or hypoglycemia. we'll be here for all your questions, so don't hesitate to ask!! can't wait for pictures, and i'm sure your son will be thrilled!!!! i wish you the best of luck!!

Some don't like the nutrical, so it is a good idea to have some honey or karo syrup on hand. Then just pretty much treat him like an infant, not a dog. He will sleep a lot and that is good. Don't expect too much in the way of potty training for at least a month or two. It's best if you use the age times 7 to figure the human age equivalant and then expect what you would expect of a child the same age. So 2 months times 7 makes it 14 months, you would not expect to potty train a child of 14 months. Congratulations and have fun.

Have you made an appointment with a vet you feel comfortable with? You'll need to bring in the puppy the next day after you picked him up. Bring a fleece blanket with you, they like to be warm. Congrats in being a new Yorkie Mom! And, welcome to the world of Yorkies!

Yay! Puppy! Congratulations. Please remember that at eight weeks they are very fragile so careful about children dropping him or over-handling him. He should also get lots of rest for the next four weeks and he definitely should see a vet first opportunity you get. Good luck and please post pics!
