| Floor length fur? Hello everyone! Just wandering if anyone could tell me at what age a yorkies fur usually reaches floor length? |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | That really depends on the hair type and genetics. Some take longer to grow than others. Gracie's hair is almost to the floor at 2 years...had hair cut at 1 year. London is 4 1/2 months and hers is almost to her knees.

| coat I have gotten floor length on a wrapped coat at 12 months. At 18 months it was so long it hung longer then the table, so I had to trim it. If I do not wrap it takes a bit longer and then edges tend to break off and not get as long as I perfer on a show coat, but nice for a pet. |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | Also, it depends on how well you care for the hair. Many of the floor length hair you see is on show dogs. There is SOOOO much care that goes in to this coat. Wrappings, oils, etc. If you're looking to get a show quality coat, pm one of the show breeders and they can help you with this.

| I'm interested to know too... Good question oceanair...I'm interested to know too. I'm thinking that not every yorkie would have their full lenght coat at the same age but it would be interesting to know at what age their babies had grown their coat at floor lenght. |

| Thanks Pat. It's good to get some tips and added knowledge from people that knows & have experienced these kinds of situation. My babies are both 15 months old and their coats still needs to grow a couple of inches more to reach the floor and my husband would really like to see them grow to floor lenght. So now I have some answers to why it's taking it longer and slower to grow them long because there are different factors that could affect their coats growth rate..Thanks a lot. |

| coat SO true...and think about it. Yorkie hair is like human hair..if we dragged our hair along the carpets, grass, concrete, it would take lots of time to grow long. |

| Cookie would have had floor length hair by the time he was 10-12 months old but he's had several haircuts. Right now it's about 2 inches away from reaching the floor. The head hair takes longer to grow for himsince they cut it so short back in early March. It's pretty long and really easy to take care of.If I brush once a week it's mattfree still. But I make sure I brush him at least 2-3 times a week. I bathe him every week with Chris Christensen Gold on Gold or Daily shampoo . I use a lot of Ice On Ice spray while the hair is wet ,after blow drying and I pass the blow dryer all over again. I think using good products, good quality dogfood makes a difference. Genie, Cookie & Lola |

Could you please, please, please, tell us a little of your experience of wrapping....such as, what you use, how long they stay in, do you use oils, and mabie how often you do it, oh! and how long the fur has to be in the first place to first wrap it. Cindys fur is about to her knees now. She will be 5 months tomorrow. I'm just thinking if it will grow faster or better that way without breaking off as much, I'm very willing to give it a try. Mind you, I did say try. lol. Thank you!! | |
