| ![]() The last week Tori has been darting out the door everytime it opens. I just chased her up and down my block for 20 minutes. Finally the neighbor guy came home and acted like he was going to get her and she ran and jumped in my arms. I have tried I everything I could think of. I have done puppy classes (she knows sit and stay, but once out front doesn't listen.) I put a baby gate at the door, but she jumps it I put her in an Xpen during the day, but she jumps it I biught a taller Xpen, she jumps it She doesn't respond to treats out front (or toys) I don't know what else to do, and I'm afraid she is going to be lost, stolen, or hit by a car. PLEASE help me. What else can I do?

| ![]() I know this will be an inconvenience but you may want to put her on a leash every time you go to open your door til you get something figured out.

| ![]() my two dogs do this as well. i have found a treat that they both love and keep it close by a door. when ever it happens, i shake the bag and they come running back to me. it has not failed. maybe try this.

| ![]() I would do some trial training with her. Place a long leash on her, and have someone come in from the other side, and as she darts, say NO! in a very stern manner, and place her on time out. Then keep doing it and doing it, daily, for weeks if you have to, until she doesn't dart, then you praise the crap out of her and give her the best treat ever. I know this sounds easier than it will be but it might be worth a shot.

| ![]() How about getting a baby gate or something and put it across your front door on the outside so when the door is opened there is still something blocking it that humans could just step over. Maybe even a piece of plywood or something and tack it there semi-permanently for a while until you can come up with a better solution.

| ![]() Sorry this is happening to you. ![]() Oh, Baby also jumps the xpen, so I don't use it anymore. I put her in a large crate (for a 100lb dog). I just don't want to keep her locked up in a tiny cage. She peed in it once, so I cleaned it up. I'm sorry I'm babbling...I don't know what to tell you to do. ![]()

| ![]() Oh no! That is one of my worst fears!!!! Maybe you could try a taller baby gate, with a swinging door, so that you won't have to step over it. That way you would have like an extra catch whenever anyone goes in or out. Maybe something like this: http://www.petstreetmall.com/pet-gate.aspx look at the "Duragate" one as you scroll down the page. Good luck!!!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | ![]() That is one of my fears too now with the warmer weather. My Pom who is 9 year sold never runs out the door and I can alk her with out a leash and sit and do gardeneing for hours and she will sit in the shade and never wander off. Cali on the other hand will be long gone. I have never had a Yorkie that I could let off leash even for 1 minute. I am thinking of putting a screen or something between the storm door and the front door but I am also going to put Cali on a 24 ft leash I just bought on a Stake and try and teach her to come and stay. I did this with Maya every spring when she was little and I don't know if that's why she stays or its just her personality, or she knows no one else would put up with her.lol I am really afraid when my dtr is home and I'm not she is way to careless. It is so scary
