| I agreed the best pet for your family depends more on personality than sex. I have a girl and love her so much. Yes she can be a Diva but she can also be a cuddle bug. Good luck picking up your baby. |

| Donating YT 14K Club Member | I prefer females. Even though they have their twice-a-year cycles, they are much cleaner (to me). With males, I cannot keep a long coat on them. They end up smelling like pee all the time and I don't want to have to bathe them every 3-4 days to keep them smelling fresh. Plus, there is the marking issue.

| Male or Female, I don't think it really matters. With the males and the humping thing, my female pom humped too. And marking, well I had Gus fixed and he doesn't mark in the house but will out side. With Females, well I've only had a male yorkie but my Pom was very moody and mean! She had a litter of 4. 2 boys and 2 girls and although the girls were much smaller then the boys they really bullied them around. So I don't know if it was just the breed or a female thing. I know I wouldn't trade Gus for the world, but if I had to chose what my next yorkie will be I would pick a female.

| My little female Jasmine is a Diva. Very spoiled. She runs the household and has her way about everything. Both of the male dogs give in to her all the time. Even though one is 25 lbs and one is 9 lbs and she is 5 lbs. She totally dominates them and they love it. That said! She is also very sweet and loves to sit on our laps or right next to us and cuddle and she gives us kisses all the time. That's one reason she is so spoiled. We can't say no to her. HA We have usually had males in the past and have 2 how and had no problem with them humping or marking in the house. I really think it depends on the personality of the dog and the way you raise them. |

| In my experiences with yorkies I can not say either way. So many say a male puppy will take more to a female and a female puppy will take more to a man. I am here to tell you in my experiences it is not true. I think they take the most to who ever spends the most time with them. And by all means they all still go to my hubby even though I am the one who takes care of them all. So I would not have a preference. |
