| Bad experience at the park Hey Guys! I brought Zoe to the doggy park for the first time today and we were in the puppy section. There was a lab pup that kept wanting to play with Zoe so after few minutes I put him down to play and the lab ATTACKED Zoe. When I was reaching down to break them apart, 2 pinchers had decided to join in. I was so panicked that I YANKED Zoe off the ground and grabbed him. Luckily, he was not hurt but I'm really upset this happened. He was soooo scared. He was shaking but was normal after a few minutes. The worst thing was that the owner didn't even apologize. He didn't even admit that was his dog!! He left first with his pinchers and had his young son come back to take the lab that attacked my Zoe. The nerve. I was shaking. Poor Zoe. On the good note...Zoe made a new friend! A maltese named Jingles.

| I'm Sorry... But I am glad Zoey was not seriously hurt. Is there an area where the small breeds can Play?

| Im so sorry that you and Zoe had such a bad experience at the doggie park. I only took Gucci once to a doggie park and most of the dogs were big and Gucci was shaking so bad that I just left. Maybe you can join the The NYC Yorkie Meetup Group or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NewYorkieCityInsider/ . Last edited by Marie; 03-31-2006 at 09:23 PM. |

| I'm so sorry to hear about this happening to Zoe and thank the good Lord she is okay! This same thing has happened to my Maddie a couple of times and it has made her fearful of dogs...she likes other dogs, but she is always very cautious until she gets used to them and trusts them. Some she just doesn't trust at all and wants nothing to do with. Maddie sends kisses to Zoe! So glad you saved her from harm!!!

| That is horrible that people are so irresponsible. . They should only have an area sectioned off for small breeds only. |

| Labs Do you know the breed that kills more Yorkies then any other breed are Labs...it is not their fault, they are responding to inbred traits...this is what I have been told by Labs breeders. A good Lab owner..any good dog owner shoudl not allow their dog to terrorize other dogs..small or large..I think some pet owners like to see their dogs bully others. "my dog can beat up your dog"... Jingles sounds like a good playmate for Zoe..best wishes |

| Christine, that is sooooo awful!! I am glad Zoe's OK. It's really frightening to see your pup being mauled like that. Our NC Yorkie MeetUp is a week from today, and the people who run the dog park have reserved one lot for the 4 hours we plan to be there. That's pretty special. Otherwise, I would be worried about the same situation you found yourself in.

| you were so fortunate You will probably remember that bad experience forever but let's hope Zoe forgets it. It is terrible the man did not take responsibility for his dogs. Zoe is such a cute baby I'm so glad it turned out all right! |

| Oh my! That is frightening. Sad that he was such an irresponsible owner -- he should have been right there to get the dog off Zoe!

| It's infuriating that some people are so irresponsible with their dogs. Glad to hear that Zoe is ok. I'm always afraid to take Max and Abbie to a dog park for that reason so we just go for walks. Last weekend Animal Friends (a no-kill shelter in my area) had a social for the under 25 (all dogs under 25lbs welcome ) but I missed it. I'd feel more comfortable taking them to something like that rather than places where large breed dogs are allowed to run free. Don't get me wrong--I'm not anti-large breed dog. There are some where I live that are very gentle with my dogs but when you go to a dog park and you don't know the owners or the dogs, anything can happen

| Labs I know several people with Labs and Yorkies..they do well together, very protective. The problem somes with a hunting breed when they are not controlled around small breeds..some never see any until going to a dog park or walking and then there is a problem..I would not be concerned abotu a family pet living with a toy breed...a strange one is different. |
