Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | How/When does one know... ...which coat type a Yorkie falls in? I understand this is essential to proper grooming. I read that if eyes have a greenish tint in certain light and pics, the coat is most probably going to be silky. Well....Abbie's eyes do have green (instead of redeye) in pictures. But her coat doesn't feel silky. I know she's only a baby, now (4months); so will her coat change considerably, or is this 'it'? Thanks.

| I don't think you can tell by the baby's coat. If her eye are glowing green, or as "Whispersmom" told me, cool colors they will have a silky coat. If warm colors then a cotton or woolly coat. Olies eyes are still showing blue, and she is 13 weeks so not sure what that means. Maybe she is still too young. |

| Yes, her coat will definetly change considerably. It will grow out (not fall out) into the adult coat. My 3 year old is still changing. A cottony coat gets matted very quickly. |

Lovin' 2 Girls Donating Member | Thanks. Here are two pics of her at 13wks. The first, I held her head to the camera so we could even see her face. In the second - she's really not snapping or growling - it just looks that way, so I played it up. lol I'm headed out to get something to do daily grooming. Not sure how much my little town offers; but, I do know I can get Show Sheen from the feed store. Suggestions...??

| What age range do they eyes start to show the color? I know that you can see it sometimes without the camera if they are looking into light. |
