| I have never used belly bands. Did you girls use them to help potty train your pups or are they just for potty training older dogs and to keep them from marking. I have to say i've never heard of a belly band til yt. And did you use diapers on your girls when potty training? Sorry to butt in but since we were onthe topic thought i'd ask..thanks

| The new carpet may actually solve all your problems. Obviously he had an accident at the bottom of the stairs and continued to go where he smells he has gone before. Since you leave him out unattended if he does have an accident you may not know til it's already soaked down into the carpet and pad. ONce this happens the smell is almost impossible to remove. Our dog is only free when we can watch him and if we catch him having an accident we say no and take him outside and then clean the spot immediately with paper towells and an order remover. While we are gone at work we keep our dog in an actually people play pen. Then even if he goes in there the smell doesn't soak into the carpet. However, we come home at lunch to let him out so he only has to hold it for 4 hours or so. Hopefully when you get new carpet he won't smell himself in the house anymore and will only relieve himself outside.

| You could do the x-pen or crate him while you are not home and put the belly band on him when you are being that he is marking during both occassions. I have one Yorkie that never does anything wrong....one. The others HAVE to be crated while I am not home for their own safety (and house cleanliness). The crate itsn't used as punishment and they all LOVE going to their crates because they get some kibble every single time so they look forward to it. I'm pretty sure it is the scent that is making him mark and mark...but you don't want him "claiming" your NEW carpeting. |
