YT Members...please be careful! I'm very upset as I type this. Please be careful with some of the threads. I just read one where someone was asking for donations...dog related. All I'm going to say is don't get taken. If you see someone asking for donations, please do a search on their past posts. Find out if this is a regular member or if basically, they only come around when they need something. I don't want to see anyone get hurt or burned. :( |
I think this is against YT rules... Thanks for the heads up for those of us that do have a good heart and want the best for our yorkie community, but not if they are genuine.. :( |
Wow, some people are just so greedy! :thumbdown |

Thanks Kimberley for the good advise. We really do want to trust and help everyone and I would hate to see members burned. :( |
I totally agree, you just have to be careful. I have donated several times to people on here that I know and want to support. But TXShopper is absolutely correct for being concerned and reminding us of the dangers out there. I dont know what thread she is talking about but what I do know is there are some poeple out there that just try to take advantage of kind hearted people so you since this is the WORLD WIDE WEB and you really have no idea who a person really is, you have to be careful. I AM NOT saying whoever needed a donation or whoever it taking up donations is bad, by any means, I am sure they are a great person. Im just saying I agree with being cautious. Unfortunately some bad people out there ruin it for the rest of us, and this is just so unfortunate but its life. I am 100% for supporting people who are helping good causes or just need some extra help. I am just saying please be careful and do some research ;) PLease no one take what I am posting the wrong way. :) |
Don't get me wrong! I've donated to a couple of gift baskets/packages. I felt good about that but watch out for those that ask and then never acknowledges the goods or gets back to those that donated. To me, that is very ugly and I'd be very hurt if that happened to me. :( |

Totally agree! |
THANKS for the heads-up for us Newbies! We will be sure to check things out. I really never gave that a thought, but I will now. :) |
Thanks for the heads up! I didn't see the post you're referring to, but I haven't had time to read each and every post! |
I've seen pleas in the past also...sometimes people DO send things or $ and then poof - we never hear from that person again....I've been burned before and it's not a good feeling... (not here..different site) this was a good post. I know we all see posts where we really want to help if we are able ...but Kimberley is right - the best way to see if someone is really needing help is search their past posts....you learn alot that way.... and IF someone is new & sees something they want to help out with....ask admin or a longtime member about it ...usually they know if something is legit or not... |
You are correct, it is against the rules! Admin does step in, but they don't always catch it quickly unless someone points it out to them. (only because they have THOUSANDS of posts to monitor) If you see someone suspicious asking for donations, hit the Exclamation Point :warning: on the bottom left of that person's post and report it to Admin immediately. |
Thanks for the heads up!! I feel good about all gifts, donations, etc., except one! In one of the gift exchanges, I didn't get any sort of acknowledgment ... not that she had to thank me, but I put a lot of thought, care & money into it [the money didn't matter] and I just wanted to know if her Yorkie baby liked the gifts! I'm thankful that I sent it requiring a signature or wouldn't even have known that it was received ..... it was received! Maybe she quit the forum before the exchange was over, but out of common courtesy she could've at least thanks! I love helping others but will be on my guard!! Thanks again! |
I'm glad you said that Bettyeanne......TWO WORDS Are huge in our language. The words THANK YOU. A THANK YOU is so easy to do...and means so much..... and that's a shame your gifts were never responded to....I'd be upset also. Lucky for us - most people aren't like that...but there is always those out there who just don't have manners. :thumbdown I'lll say thank you for her :) I BET you sent just awesome gifts and that person was very lucky to be your gift exchange buddy...and if that person is reading this....You can see it hurt someones feelings by not responding. :( |

I certainly hope you aren't talking about me! All I wanted to do was help a dog with medical needs as a memorial to Rachel (Bella Bear). My idea was to get YT rescue.com or stoppuppymills.com to set it up where our members could contribute directly to them in Rachel's memory, and have it mentioned on their website in honor of Rachel. I surley hope you are referring to something else. If I broke any rules, I'm so sorry! I just wanted to do something nice. |

NO, NO, NO - I know for a fact the original poster was not talking about you :) |

Thank you! I was so worried! Phew! :) |

I know for a fact that this isn't aimed at anyone in particular...mostly just the infrequent person that signs up - pulls on peoples heartstrings... and then we never hear from them again.... |
I agree. When people ask for donatiions, they could at least give word that they sent whatever they used the donation money for. Or they could ask for input from the donators on what exactly to get. oh and just because someone has a ton of posts doesn't mean they're honest and well-meaning. If it doens't feel right or legit, don't do it. Use your instinct. |
I have to agree, we all want the best for these babies and we run to the checkbook to help whenever we can. One thing I've noticed is that the few people I've helped (wish it could be more) have all been people who were established members, and they NEVER ASKED for money or donations. They simply told about a terrible situation with a sick baby and they were looking for some moral support. It was the community that came together and decided to help out. And those people were always so appreciative, it was obvious they needed the help. I'm always happy to help out a fellow YT-er who needs it, especially if it involves a sick or injured baby. I wish that scammers didn't exist, but as someone said, this is the world wide web. We are going to be scammed occassionally. It's the chance we take. But, as Kimberly said we just need to be careful. |
:D Hey good looking out txshopper73 now that's what you call YT love. :D thank you very very much for the info and I will be on the look out. Sincerely, BaBe Girl * Mommy :aimeeyork Quote:

eensor this post doesn't reflect you at all. Your situation is totally different reason this post came about. Keep you head high "We love you" If there is anything I can do for you please PM me... |
I have noticed on here a couple of times people coming on here soliciting for Money. They are Ususally people I dont know and have never heard of. Fasteddie usually finds and deletes the posts. I dont mind giving into collections taken for Yorkietalkers that I know who are in need. I have done that several times. |
GOOD Thread  |
Very good Thread. We are a big Family, with hearts of gold. BUT, Just as Kimberly said, "We just need to be careful". Thanks Kimberly    :hearts-xx |
I feel like you guys are talking about me. I joined this forum few months ago, but I`ve never introduced my self or show my baby,Jimmy to you guys. When I posted about poor dogs in Korea, I felt guilty indeed that I had to post my first one about this sad story. But, I want you to know that I have no intention to get money from this site or something. Actually I haven`t sent any money for those animals myself because of transaction problem. I live in the Netherlands. I donate Dutch animal rescue team . I just want to more people know about the bad situation. I thought then Korean government can get pressure about international willing. Actually I was not very interested about animal rescue or animal welfare. But since I have Jimmy ( 8 months yorkie ) my heart started to so ache when I heard of encounter about animals in pain or in cruelty. Jimmy makes me better hearted person. Anyway.. I understand you want to be careful about newbie like me.. But please don`t misjudge me. I `ve got lots of help and information about yorkie from this site. I will write more and show my baby tonight. |
jimmyjimmy ......NO WAY was anyone talking about you !! ...or anyone ELSE for that matter.... You came on with great posts !!! I LOVED that you cared enough to post about those poor dogs and many of us will sign ALL those petitions and we try to do our parts to help...there are so many awful things out there.... Our country AND other countries need to STOP the torture & I Applauded your post and I did reply to you - KEEP Them coming !! There are some of us that really do spend our time trying to speak for dogs off the sites...and your links were a good way to try to help. This is just a reminder IN GENERAL and not directed to anyone here..... We as a site LOVE TO HELP.....but I hope everyone sees this for the reason Kimberley posted it ..... JUST USE COMMON SENSE !! |
And so no one thinks this was posted about anything they did - IT'S NOT ABOUT ANYONE IN PARTICULAR !! I had to laugh - I spent all last weekend working on donations for Marie so this thread COULD have been about ME ....:D hehe - it wasn't and I knew that...but PLEASE...don't anyone take it personally ! it's a GENERAL POST ABOUT NO ONE IN GENERAL !!!! |
