| new yorkie and small children I have a 5 and 12 yr old. We have one female yorkie that we have been raising from pup and just got a male who is a little over 1yr old. I do realize that it is going to take him some time to adjust and not sure what that time limit will be. the issue at this point is that while he is used to children, he is used to older children. he does not like the 5 yr old in the same room with him. he starts to bark and growl, not sure if he would go as far as biting. I am thinking of keeping him in a pen when in the same room with the 5 yr old until he understands that he is not going to hurt him. has anyone tried this or have any other suggestions. i would like to make this as easy on him as possible. he does fine with the 12yr old. to my knowledge he has never been injured by a small child or anything, just has never been around them. i think the smaller children move to much and to fast for him combined with being in a new environment. |

| I had that problem with a few when the grandchildren would come over but in time they got use to the children being around. I think as you say they just move way to fast for these guys. Good idea about putting him in the same room in a pen until he gets use to the 5 year old. Good luck. |
