Yorkie Justice The other day Susan committed a naughtiness -- chewing on a piece of hardwood Joe was going to use for one of his projects. I caught her red pawed -- and it wasn't the first time. When she saw that I had seen her, she ran and jumped into her crate. I followed her and shut the door but didn't latch it. I wondered how long she would think was about the right about of time for her to stay in there. According to a Yorkie's reckoning of justice, it took about 90 seconds for Susan to pay her debt to society. Probably seemed like a long time to her. Just thought I'd mention that because seems to give a time glimmer of an insight into how long they think they should "suffer" before they are forgiven.

SusansMom -- What a wonderful concept. And - this may also be a clue as to their memory and how long they will reflect and be concerned about something they have done that is wrong. She probably got into her crate knowing that she had done something wrong but in a very short amount of time - was off and thinking about totally different things....and, to her, this was time to leave her create and find something else to do (that would probably be naughty also)!! Fun fun!!! Carol Jean

Ha. My guess is she came out as soon as she thought that you had forgotten. Or maybe she was coming to tell you that you forgot to lock the door. Yup!! I'm pretty sure that's what she wanted.

I can hear Susan's little wheels turning in all those directions -- thinking she needed to notify me that the door was open, thinking it was time to do something else, or just plain forgetting why she felt bad and deciding to feel good. She's a happy little girl!

| haha and SnowWa makes a good point that dogs don't need to be punished long because after a few minutes they don't even remember why someone's mad at them lol
