I'm a new yorkie mommy, I have never shown dogs (but I do watch animal planet) I have never bred before, but we all love are yorkies and I'm sure we all think there beautiful and are gorgeous enough to show, if we didnt, we would not post pictures after pictures of are babies, but my question is, why do they have to be AKC to show in a ring? On that note, it's idol time so see ya all later :)) |

I totally agree with what you have said and feel exactly the same way myself. |

Thank you again for your great post. :thumbs up |
forgot to add............. And there's no way in hell I would "place" any of my yorkies in another home when their breeding days were over. Heck, it's hard enough to have you child grow up and move out on their own or "give" your child to another in marriage! |
geeeez I couldn't bear to part with any of my litter, so now I have six and will not breed again (as far as I can see). But I am glad there are good hearted people who can do better than me. I could also see getting all caught up in the whole 'show' thing. I can be a little obsessive when I get started. I'm sure it would be a lot of fun, I have a competitive streak as well. I just don't have time at the moment. My hubby and I adore our babies, he called me the other day to say they made him 'happy!' That made me happy, too. |

* If your dog comes from 2 parents registered with another kennel club that they recognize (there is a list of these) you can download a form and you have to send a copy of the other registration papers with it. * If only one or no parents are registered, the dog has to be at least 6 months old, you have to send pics from different angles and 3 (I think) witnesses + 1 vet opinion that the dog is pure bred. Also, I know in most cases I've heard of, they come back and ask for a DNA tests too. I talked w/ them day before yesterday and they said this form of "open registration" will end soon, either summer 06 or beginning of 07 depending on numbers. Once all their new "rules" have been put into place, you can request an updated "code of ethics." :) |

I had a very hard time parting with the puppies from my litter (which is one reason why I won't breed again).. but the families that they went to are wonderful- and I even get to "dog sit" them, so I keep in close contact. Our city codes won't allow us to have any more dogs, we are at the max for pets in our home.. (I did keep one from the litter) we are moving to the country, so we will be able to have more pets, but we won't be getting anymore, I don't think so anyways. |
