| How many hourse will a 4 month Sleep/Nap? My baby is 4 1/2 months old. My husband wakes up for work at 4:30 am and takes him to do his business and puts him back in his crate. I let him out at 7:30 am and give water and takehim out to pee. He will eat around 8:30 or 9 am . Play around for about 2 hours and then when he gets to my work he will take about a 1 hr nap.He will chew on his toys, run around me for a while.Eat lunch around 2 pm. He might take another nap about 3:30 for at least another hour or hour and a half. He's awake until I get home around 6:30pm. After his dinner he will stay up until around 9:30 or 10Pm and then go to sleep again until 4 or 5 am. So he takes about 3 sometimes 4 long naps a day. At least 1 hour or 1 1/2 hr naps each time. Is that a lot? He is playful and very loving. But when I see him in such a deep sleep for an hour or more during the day I worry about all these stories with illnesses that sleep for so many hours after they eat... Dont get me wrong I dont want him awake all day long running around like a tornado either lol. If this is normal behavior for an 18 week old pup then I am happy cause he is not super hyper. Or do they get that way later on! lol I've had dogs before but not any small breeds. So this is totally new to me. he is much calmer than my other dogs. I had a lab/cocker mix(male) and later had a purebred cocker spaniel who got up to 35 lbs! But both those dogs were more hyper and seemed to get into more trouble than my baby Cookie now. I swear today we both got into a shouting match! He started playing with the newspaper that he pees on. I forgot to bring him any toys! So I tell himNO! Well his ears stand straight up and he barks back at me saying " Wo!" Not woof but " Wo!" I would say No! and he would reply " Wo!" after a minute or so I was freaking out cause he sounded just like Scooby doo trying to speak lol. Finally I found him a toy in my store that he could play with and he was quiet again Genie |

| cookie2 this is quite normal. my baby nigel is 4months also. he gets up at about 5 a.m. and he does his business. we crawl into bed with hubbie and sleep until 6:30 a.m. then i take my husband to work and we come back home and around 7:30 a.m. we crawl back into bed and sleep until around 10:00a.m. i am now typing one handed (12:45) because i am holding while he sleeps. he will sleep about an hour or so and be up until around 6:30 p.m take short nap then around 9:30pm it is lights out for him until 5:00a.m. so your baby is fine. |

| Genie! Sounds like you have a very normal baby Yorkie! Toto STILL sleeps a lot and I have her to the vets once a month so I know there's nothing wrong with her! I think they pretty much adapt to our lifestyles ... it's usually quiet around our house except for TV in every room on all the time! We usually have it on Animal Planet [Toto likes it, so do we!]. When we are moving about the house she is up playing and ripping around but if we are at our computers ... or just sitting ... she is on one of our laps! Not always sleeping ... just likes to be cuddled! Our breeder told us they are "Velcro Dogs" and she was certainly right! She does take several very "deep" sleeping naps during the day ... just depends on what's going on. However, around 10 AM she insists that I just sit and hold her while she has that morning nap or gets "cranky" almost like a child!! By 5:30-6:00 AM if Patrick is not up yet [and I forget to close the bedroom door] she jumps up on his chest and starts licking his eye!! If the door is closed ... she scratches at it until he opens it! She is an absolute JOY!! Our life revolves around her! I think I said before ... I do documents research in Courthouses, etc. and I take her with me in my bag! She has been welcomed at every courthouse I have taken her to in this country! Seems that everyone melts at the sight of a Yorkie!!

| Yup, I remember these days when Yoda slept a lot. Now he probably takes 2 naps throughout the day, unless he's home alone, then he sleeps a lot more. |

| I feel better now Thanks I feel a lot better after hearing everyone else! He's at work with me so I guess he sleeps more because I'm not very physically active at work! If he sees me get up his ears stand up and he stands up. If he sees nothing important then he goes right back down to sleep. Right now he is on my lap just melted on my lap.lol I waited a little bit later to give him his lunch, in the hopes that he would eat it all. I have been mixing in dog food with his chicken. He was so hungry he ate the whole thing+ his nutri-cal.He only eats like 2-3 tbsp of food per meal. Most times just barely 2 tbsp. Still surprises me how little these guys actually eat! Genie |

| Genie ... glad that helped! Toto only eats twice a day now! 1 - 2 tablespoons chopped Natural Balance with a little sour cream, parm or grated cheese. However, I leave a little bowl of Royal Canin Yorkshire 28 down all the time in case she wants to nibble that.

| Higgins plays sooooo hard when he's awake, that he naps haaaaard in the morning and the afternoon! All of a sudden, he just drops and sleeps! They sleep a lot, even at seven and a half months...... And despite all the activity, he doesn't eat much. Probably totals 3 tabelspoons a day. He's lean but not mean....just really cute muscles! |
