| Changing coat color??? Zoe is 9 1/2 mths. old and is supposed to turn a silvery color like her Mom. Her roots are turning silvery/gray and alot of her coat is turning, but she is still really black in some spots and some of her roots are still black. Is this normal as far as color change goes? Could she have spots that stay black while the rest of her coat turns silver? The black hair is wiry and the new silvery hair is silky/cottony, so if she stays black in some areas, she will have different hair textures as well. How long does it normally take until their hair is completely changed? Anyways, I'm just wondering what your experiences have been. Thanks!!

| Trixie's breeder said she won't have her full adult coat until she's about 2. She's turning one this week. Her roots are starting to turn silver, but she is still black and gold for now.

| Willow is 12 week and her coat is changing however i am sure its not her adult coat yet. Her face is turning gold. The top of her head changed from black to silver and is now having gold roots. If front shoulder blades are also now having silver roots on them as well. Her Momma and Daddy are gold and silver

| Seems like they all do their own thing in their own time. The book I have on Yorkies, gives like a dozen different scenarios on "if your puppy's coat is doing this, then the adult coat will be thus". So I guess they're gonna be what they're gonna be. |

| My Zoe' still has some black with her silver (2 years old). Some do not turn completely silver. The top of the saddle (or back) is sometimes lighter then underneath. My aunt had a yorkie that lived to be 15 years and her saddle was never completely silver, always some black but mostly silver on the top. It probably depends on the dogs and they can turn out like their grand parents instead of their parents the way I understand it. Even in size, they may be larger or even smaller then their parents. I have one that is 10 pounds, she is bigger then her mom or her dad was. Her coat and size is starting to stay the same now at 2 years old. The main difference that I see now is that her tan on her head and face is more rich or reddish to me the older she gets. I was told by a breeder that the color deepens with age or maturity. | Bailey will be 2 in June, and his back is still black, I'm not sure it will ever change, I have heard it very well may not. So who knows?
