| I love the terrier attitude, so my second choice would be a Westie rather than a Maltese. |

| Hello, I have both a Yorkie and a Maltese, My Yorkie is almost 3 months and a female she is very sweet, My maltese is 5 months and a male, he is also very sweet, when it comes to maintance i think the maltese are harder to keep up, specially because of the white coat and the eye stains they can get, my maltese started suffering from ugly eye stains but luckly i found a product that works like magic, my Yorkie tends to get little mats if a day goes by without brushing. I love both my puppies but my Yorkie seems easier to potty train also than my maltese he is a bit more stubborn. My Yorkie seems more loving maybe because she is a girl.... . Final decision.......I recommend both. |

| Has anyone seen the video of the maltese (thing) that a guy dyed to look like it had Panda markings? How FUNNY is that? It's actually something I'd do if I ever thought of getting one! The tear staining wouldn't be an issue! Gorgeous, Gorgeous and cute. Here's the link: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...ogs&time=30000 You've gotta be careful w/ the dye, but it can be done safely. Interesting, huh? Cute story too. |

| i think you should go for it. it is not as hard to care for a maltese. the veternarian will give you drops to get rid of the eye stain. , and brushing them helps , but that does get to be a pain if you dont have time . i have 3 little kids and i still find time for my china and my tia.

| Before I got Bambi, i was so split between getting a fur ball maltese or a Yorkie. I decided to get a yorkie after seeing Bambi at his breeder. Bambi is 3.5lb, and I always get paranoid about his health as people say tiny dogs have more problems. to give Bambi a company so he doesn't become too lonely, we decided to get another dog...and yes, we got Mantou, a maltese! The two personalities are so different yet they became the best buddy. Bambi is smart and sensitive, Mantou is silly and never knows what's going on. Now my only worry is Mantou is already close to 4lbs at 5 months old. I hope he won't step on Bambi and doesn't even notice ..haha

| First I want to thank all of you for your input. I did take some advise and I met with a couple breeders this weekend. I have to say that both Maltese and Yorkie puppies are absolutely beautiful. I seen a few mommy and daddies and loved all of them. However I think I was just meant to be a yorkie mommy, as much as I love the little maltese the yorkies were just so much more rambuncious(sp) and just made my heart melt. So I am going to start looking for my next YORKIE.

| If you're still in Missouri, please be sure to steer clear of any/all puppy mills or pet shops (esp. ones that brag that they sell from "USDA kennels" or "private breeders"!). Your state is littered w/ them! More so that any other state in the US! Did you know that? What's your budget for a pup? PM me if you want a few referrals on breeders, unless you've already gotten that taken care of! ~Leslie (yorkieK9trainer) |

| Did you ever consider a Biewer Yorkie? I just recently saw some pics on a thread entitled I was in Yorkie heaven - I went to the ladies website www.stellaryorkies.com - she's a YT member here and seems to be very knowledgeable and her puppies, both Yorkies and Biewers, are beautiful. To me they seem to be a mix of Maltese and Yorkie, but the true Biewers come from Germany and have purebred papers. |

| I had only Cookie until a few weeks ago I got a female Maltese that we named Lola Sophia. She was another gift from hubby that wanted mommy happy and a buddy for Cookie I am so glad we got her. She is potty trained and only about 11 weeks old.I never trained her "swear to G_D!"She is playful and is always kissing Cookie . I bathe her once a week and just started using EYE ENVY to avoid the serious tearstains. She is not an outside dog so stains on the paw pads are not an issue for us. I comb her every other day sometimes every 3 days and really don't notice a difference between her and my Yorkie. She just has more silky hair . I would deffinately say to go for it! | How could you go wrong with either? They are both so beautiful and great personalities! Then again you might consider getting both! |
