I feed apples to my bird - and usually give my Yorkie a bite or two. He has never had any problems from eating pieces of apple.
I think that often we give our little Yorkies a bite of something - and then if they get sick for a day or two, we assume it was from what we gave them. This is not always the case. Often what we gave them had nothing to do with their being sick...
Logically - because "B" follows "A" ---- does not always mean that "B" was caused by "A".
My sister thought her little dog got very sick from eating a small amount of liverwurst that she had given him. And, because of this, when I gave her pup some liverwurst (along with my dogs), she was really worried. You guessed it! Her dog was just fine (even after eating three times the amount she had given him.)
I find it hard to believe that such a small amount of apple could have made your little pup that sick -- and think it was probably from something else he ate or even something he may have caught from another dog. I don't think you're the "guilty one."
I know for a fact that my Bichon had a couple of days of diarrhea when he was a pup - during a time when he had eaten absolutely nothing other than his usual food. I think he may haven eaten something outside or even in the house that I didn't know about....or he may just have had a 24-hour puppy virus. Who knows!
Don't be too quick to blame yourself - I think you are innocent!!!
