| Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Wow that would scare me too. I would worry about other animals out there when he's out...Scary animals...Besides big dogs.... we have coyotes in Houston and I'm so glad I have a fenced in yard. and you had the right idea all along....I would also harness my girls if we didn't have a fenced in backyard....that's way too much land to worry about. I'm so glad he was ok. |

| Wow, I know exactly how you felt. Something similar happened with our toy poodle not long before he passed away. It was late at night. Right before I put the kids to bed, I let him out to potty. I had to get something out of my Tahoe too. After I did that, I started calling him (we're out in the country too) and he wouldn't come. Being that he was as old as he was, I was thinking he just didn't hear us. We got on the Gator and drove and drove and called and called. We could hear the coyotes off in the distance and I was really starting to panic. Finally, one of the girls came out because she had gotten scared listening to us and wanted to see what was going on. We were making another round on the Gator when we got a flashlight signal from the house. Turns out my daughter decided to look in the Tahoe and there the little rat was. He had jumped in without me noticing earlier and I had closed the door. That entire time we were frantically searching for him, he was sitting in the Tahoe. And never even barked! Really scared us bad but it turned out okay. Glad it turned out good for you too!

| Thanks everybody. I know it could have gone totally the other way. But he was just like Dorothy in the WIzard of OZ...such a great adventure and he never even left home! We have a huge yard where we used to raise American Bulldogs...we had 8 of them at one time but our job kept us away from home so much we had to place them in other homes. But in that yard is Jack...a Boer Goat. And he does not like Oscar and has butted him once when Oscar was in there with him. Besides, goat poop everywhere!!! I don't want little Oscar in there anyway!!! I will get him a yard in the works and in the mean time, he will be leashed...we have a new leash law on the hill!!!

| Thank God you found Oscar. Even with a fenced yard all I have to do is turn my back and they are under the fence. Our little ones sure are good at getting into tight places. Maybe you can fence in an area for Oscar so he can run free but still be contained.
