| From Puppy Coat to Adult Coat?? Just curious if anyone knows how long it takes typically for a yorkie to grow into his/her adult coat? Jackson is 9 months and his hair is still pretty short. Thanks so much!

| Every dog is different. we have three Yorkies all with very different coats. Roxies coat is nice and getting long and seems to never have tangles. Madies coat always has tangles and doesn't seem to grow as fast, and Peter is the same age and has had his coat shaved off 6 months ago and it is already as long as Madie's. It just depends on the dog. Also make sure not to brush his coat when it is dry. this will cause it to break of and it will seem like it isn't growing. Try spraying with some detangler or conditioner mixed with water before brushing.

| The breeder I got Trixie from told me she won't have her full adult coat until she's 2 years old. She's turning 1 in a few days, and I can see it's starting to grow a lot faster now.

| My pup is 6 months old. He has had at least two haircuts to get rid of his yucky baby coat. He now has a wonderful silky coat - a great improvement. His hair seems to grow very fast. He probably doesn't have his real adult coat yet, but he does have fast-growing wonderful hair that is easy to comb and never never tangles. I'm going to keep him somewhat short for a while (about an inch or so on his body). He just looks neater and cleaner and summer is coming! But - there is no doubt that there is a lot of variance in the types of coats that Yorkies have, how fast they grow, and the way they change colors. I think we just all have to wait and see what our own individual little dogs will do. Good luck! Carol Jean |

| I was wondering this same thing. Dolce is just over 4 months now and her coat is getting longer, but isn't shiny and it tangles SOOO easily. I can brush her once day and she almost looks like she has dreadlocks by the next. LOL! And she doesn't even go outside or get dirty or anything! I know she's still young, but I can't wait for her to get her silky, shiny coat that doesn't tangle like crazy. Does it help to cut it off and let it grow back out???
