There are products you can buy (including meat tenderizer) to put in a dog's food so the end result is not so appealing. These have met with mixed success, according to several YT members.

Mine has never ever eaten his own poop....those kitty crunchies are a whole another story. Yuck The litter boxes are now protected by a baby gate. We've had the gate awhile now, I thought he forget about the snacks......nope, if that gate's down...he's in there munching
