| Fell In Icy Pool this morning I had a horrable experience with my zoey. we have an inground pool with a winter tarp on with about a foot of water on it and a thin ice layer. I put zoey out and was watching her and she slipped into the icy pool. she swam to the middle of the pool and I could not reach her. I was in my bare feet and pj's screaming at the top of my lungs. she was just holding onto the ice and not moving. I finally thought and started to break the ice with my hands so she could swim over to me. she was surrounded by ice patches and could not move. I really thought I was going to lose her!! she finally started to swim towards me and I reached out as far as I could and grab her collar. she was shaking sooo bad. I ran her into the house and and warmed her up as fast as I could. please people, if any of you have water around you PLEASE PLEASE WATCH YOUR BABIES. I was only a few feet away from her and this happened. Right now she is sleeping under my feet and dry and warm. WHAT AN AWFUL MORNING!!

| That is so awful and I am so glad that she is ok! I bet it was really scary! I remember a story on here awhile ago where a yorkie drowned in one of those little fish ponds in someones back yard!! I would put her in a harness and leash next time I took her out!

| That must have scared the heck out of you! I’m always watching the kids run around the pool but so far no accidents, however I do have a net on a long poll handy just in case. Glad you and your puppy are ok, poor mommy and poor Zoey.

| I had a problem like this once... 3 summers ago I had my older yorkie named Jasper he was about 2 1/2 and we were ta my moms house he had beeen there before. Well I put him down on the deck and in a split second he took off running straight for the pool, its like he thought he could run across the water, and in he went. I was 7 1/2 mths pregnant and could not dive in to get him, I was screaming for help my husband ran out and jumped in it was terrible. He was fine thank god but hated water since. I use do do small dog foster care, and we had a basset hound about 6 mths old, and she always laid on the edge of teh pool she fell in twice and we had to get her out because of her short legs she could'nt swim well. We had to go away for the weekend for bussiness and I left her with my mil, who is a paramedic and she loved the basset. She3 knew how she was with pools so I knew she'd watch her. The Sunday we returned I got a call from my mil and she was panicked, crying telling me to head to my vets, so I did. Well she had but the basset out to potty and she had been running towards the screened porch and busted right through the screen and noone knew it, when they came out to get her she was floating in the pool, my fil dove in and got her and my mil gave her cpr, we ended up having to drive her 3 hrs down south to a special hospital and she had to stay 3 days in a oxygen chanmber machine. But she recovered and we found her a wonderful home, she was very hyper and crazy LOL, and she went to a young adult home. |

| I can imagine that that did scare you to death. Apparently, she wasn't in very long and you were able to warm her up. I'll bet it scared her to death also. Poor little pup! Thank God you were close by. Don't we all know that things can happen to our little dogs or our children very quickly. And, of course, it really isn't always our fault. Some things just happen so fast. I am glad that you were right there to help her as fast as you did. Carol Jean |

| Wow, I hate hearing pool stories like that. We have a inground pool as well, but our cover is a safety cover, that you can walk across if you wanted. I alway have to watch Raven extremely close in spring when we first take off the cover because she gets use to cutting across it during the winter. I'm just really happy you were there for your baby, and she is snug as a bug now. Kim
