| Normal Yorkie Behaviour? Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me. As Cairo is my first Yorkie, I'm not familiar with all of their little quirks. Sometimes she will start to wimper or even yelp and scuttle along the ground with either her bum down low or her head tilted and down low and she will keep close to the walls and the furniture. She stops as soon as I pick her up, and acts as though nothing has happened. If I don't pick her up, she just gets close to me and waits until I give her attention. She has been doing this since I got her at 8 weeks and she is now 15.5 weeks. Has anyone ever seen this before??

| orinskye, I did check out the liver shunt websites, but she doesn't have any of the classic symptoms. She is a healthy weight (2.5 lbs @ 12 wks) and when she does her scuttling thing she doesn't seem disoriented at all. I can call her name and she looks right at me or she will stop right in mid stride to chase the cat back up onto the couch (where she thinks the cat belongs ) and she has healthy eating and drinking habits. It's just so strange.

| Is this scooting happening after pooping? It could be due to she needs her anal glands expressed? See this thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...ht=anal+glands |

| maybe she has worms? My parents' yorkie had worms when he was a puppy. The worms would came out in little segments out of his butt. It was sooo gross. They looked like little pieces of wiggling rice. Maybe she has worms, and they're itching her butt? |

| All Great Suggestions Sorry guys.... Her butt doesn't make all the way to the ground. She has super healthy poops, and I got to experience the joy of rumaging through them for worms and came up with just poop. She has also been dewormed twice.

| Normal behaviour?? Hi, I had the same problem with Webster at 9 weeks (now 10 weeks), I took him to the vet and at first he said that Webster is too small to have anal glands but I insited he checked it out and "viola"! His anal glands were infected, he drained it and gave him a antibiotics shot. After only one day he was up and about and even more full of live!! This site helped me so much and you can realy take them to heart, they know what they are talking about and all their support is just wonderfull!! Please don't take to long to take him to the Vet he really needs to be checked out, I you had him dewormed this is the only other thing that can be wrong with him. Good luck. Linda & Webster

| Our Sully scooted his bum on the floor and it turned out it was just allergies and we had to give him a 1/2 dose of children's benedryl every 5 hours for like two days and he's been fine since. Lots of yorkies have allergies. My uncle's yorkie gets allergy shots at the vet every month.

| Did his bum actually touch the floor? Because Cairo's gets right down there but doesn't touch the ground.

| Hmm.....I am pretty sure it touched the floor....but I don't really know. He kinda sat down and scooted himself along with his front legs.

| My dog gromer does the "full meal deal" I call it ... the clean teeth, cut, wash, brush, cut nails, clean ears and yes express the anal glands... Please ask your Vet first. Do you find any dark brown oily spots on the floor? I got this info from the "Complete idiot's guide to Yorkshire Terriers" I recomend it to anyone with a Yorkie I've learned a lot! They are so loveable |

| No spots on the floor, I'm starting to think that its not the anal glands. Thanks so much for the book tip, I'll pick that one up this weekend
