| Neuturing Is it true that your puppy must be atleast 6 months to be neutured? Today muffin went to the vet for his last sets of puppy shots, rabie & canine cough shots (3 shots total) which was really painful.. then the vet receptionist told me that he will be neutured next month. He's only 3 and a half months right now. My question is that how old was your dog when you neutured him? |

| Don't know about neutering, but Elvira is just 4 mos. old and they said she was fine to be spayed. They do such little incisions and stuff now days... and she was at 4.6 pounds - big enough he said. She's doing great (this is day 2). If you are worried, I'd call some other vets and see what age they neuter.

| My vet wont do it before six months but I have heard of other people on here doing it as early as 4 months. Theres also a beeder on here that spays/neuters her puppies before they go to their new homes so it must be able to be done at an early age.

| Chachi you are right. Most vets will not do it until they are atleast 6 months. Mine prefers 7 actually. |

| Bugaboo was 1yr when he was neutered. My vet wanted to make sure he weighed enough.

| I don't think that age assumption is right. I neutered my pom at 12weeks and he did just great. |

| My vet won't neuter until Lyric's whole first round of shots is done. And she spread them out over about 6 to 7 months. |

| I've heard that it depends more on size than age. |

| My vet recommended to do it anytime after 5 months, but preferrably to not delay it too much unless you plan to breed. Tiger is scheduled this March but since I am now looking for a playmate for him and possibly breed a few times, the surgery will have to wait. |
