![]() I am currently dog sitting my friend's Yorky. She is between 6-12 months old and has been wee wee pad trained. She poops and pees on the pad, but three times now in the last two days has become so excited seeing me return home that she lost bladder control and a few drops came out. She relieves herself fully on the pad, it seems like she doesnt even realize these few drops but can tell that I get upset. She actually has a corner of my living room picked out to hide in. I dont yell at her or raise my voice but she seems to be able to tell that I am not happy when this happens. I do reinforce using the pad which works fine so far. Anyone else run into this? Once this occurred when I returned home and came into the bedroom and found her in teh bed with my girlfriend and she got so excited right then that it happened. Another tiem I came home and lifted her up on the bed and it happened again. The third time was tonight, we came back from dinner, she ran over to my girlfriend and licked her hand then she came over to me jumped up at my leg, I did not encourage this excitement, just kinda waved to acknowledge and not completely ignore (am i nuts to wave?) and still after seeing me a few drops leaked out!!! Only with me, not my girlfriend!!! My friend, she never told me that she has any excitability accidents so I believe this to be a new development and dont want to return her dog with a new problem. Any ideas? Help?

![]() Is it excitement urination or submissive urination? Excitement urination is caused by the lack of proper bladder control due to age. A method of decreasing excitement urination is by exposing the situation to the pup as many times as possible in order to make it so common(so when she is in the situation she isn't excited). As she grows older or simply loses interest in the event, the problem will be eliminated. Submissive urnination occurs in insecure dogs. In that case you have to teaching her new ways to show submission. Something like a sit or down. Don't punish the dog for either case or it will worsen. She really does not realize she is urninating.

| ![]() My Gracie who is 6 months old has this problem but it is only when someone she doesnt see everyday comes to the house particularly my mom, sister, and grandma. We know now to take her directly outside when they get there or they now ignore her until she settles down this seems to help. Gracie doesnt do this with me or my boyfriend who she lives with...like I said excitement to see someone new seems to cause her accidents.

![]() It's definetely that she is young and excitement related, I bring her to the pad immediately after but whats done is done and no more to come till later. She also just missed the pad before and caught the edge a lil, accident? or mischevious?

![]() try putting a pad right by where she greets you when you come in the door, maybe that will help with the mess

![]() I can totally relate. My Rambo does the same thing. When ever he gets too excited it seems he can't hold it in. The other day my boyfriend came over and Rambo so happen to be on my bed and when Rambo saw my boyfriend he urinated on my bed. I know it's not his fault but i just wish that he learns to control it ![]()
