| Eating Poop again? Is she mad with me? When i first got Pippa she would eat her own poop but outgrew it very quickly and hasnt done that now for almost a year. Any how today she ate is twice urgh!!!!! She has been sleeping with me for the past 2 weeks since her spaying but i am now trying to get to sleep with big brother Jake again. She hasnt barked to come into me like she would when a pup so i presumed she happy enough to be back with him. Do you think she's doing this cause shes mad with me?? Or is there another reason she may have started this again?

| When my sisters schnauzer was eating his own poop his vet said he was deficient in some nutrients and gave her a vitamin for him. He stopped very quickly and she never had a problem with it again. Just a suggestion. |

| I can't really tell you why Pippa would be doing the poop eating thing again. However, anytime that there is a change in their life or lifestyle, it can cause anxiety. Maybe she is just needing a little extra attention. |

| Oh my goodness.. Now I can share my knowledge from what I have learned!! even I don't have a yorkie yet. I have been doing a lot of studying.. so here it is.. that I have learned about dogs eating poop issue.. I hope it helps. The reason why dogs eat poop: I don't think your dog is mad at you!! 1. They might be just bored and playing with poop like toys. 2. They might be having heartburn kinda thing.. Dogs tend to eat grass and small stones etc.. when they are feeling.. heartburn. 3. When the dog is not digesting food well... 4. When they feel that they don't eat enough or.. their nutrition is not balanced so that they are trying to get something out of poop. It seems like 4th one is the main reason. The book i read said that.. when mom are raising pups, she might eat their poops... like that.. it is not really strange for dogs to eat poops. But.. it is not really pleasant for humans to see that.... so things you need to be careful is to clean the poop as soon as they poop or see other dogs' poop. It was funny.. but they also mentioned that.. you should try to throw the dog poop when they are not looking.. so they don't get the impression that.. "oh that must be really goood stuff.... " Other suggestion was to change dog food.

| Michiko is right - this has nothing to do with your dog being mad at you. What works for me is feeding my gang good high end quality dog food. They would eat the poop when they were on Nutro Light but now that they are on EVO and Merricks cans no one does it.

| There are reasons why dogs eat poop.......but do we really care why??? --we just don't want them to do it. I have noticed my pup sniffing at it occasionally - and he gets a big "No no." and it is cleaned up immediately. Of course, your dog can get into it before you even know it's there!!! This is not good!! For sure - dogs never eat anything because they are mad at you. That doesn't add up in my book! Good luck! Carol Jean PS: I should add that my Bichon got into the cat litter when he was a pup - but after being disciplined a million times - he quit doing that. Carol Jean |

| Thanks everyone for the advice. Pippa is quite a small eater so im gonna change her food and see how she goes. I have her on dried complete which she does seem to like, but when she was spayed a few weeks ago i got her some moist doggy food to tempt her and she loved that, but i know its bad for her teeth so shes back on dried. She hasnt eaten any poop today so fingers crossed it was just a blip in her nomally good behavior.
