| So, the boys are going to the groomer for the first time on Tuesday morning...and I'm a bit nervous. They've never gone before, we always do their grooming but it's time to get them in for a full blown foo-foo. I don't want their body hair cut, I only want their ears done on the top 1/3 with clean edges, the shagginess removed from their feet and legs, toenails trimmed, glands done, and a tushy trim. I don't want the hair between their eyes trimmed but their little eyebrow that curls forward needs trimmed...hubby doesn't want bows so the eyebrow has to be trimmed because it's way too long. Is that the correct way to describe what I want to the groomer or is there a name for all of that? Also, is it necessary to have the ends trimmed on the hair on their sides? I want to let them both grow out but does that need trimmed regularly? They both have the silk coat...in case that makes any difference. Help me out here...I don't want to come out with our first grooming horror story! |

| That sounds like you know what you want. I took Zoe to the groomer's for the first time today. I was sooooo nervous. I posted a thread about it. Anyway, I didn;t know what I wantd but she did all the cleaning and trimming except she didn;t cut the body hair which was fine with me because its really cold here. I don;t like how she trimmed his face but hey, hair grows. Let me know how yours go.

| Will do...I'll try to post pictures if they'll sit still! We've never used this groomer but I talked with the owner for quite a while today and he seems o.k. He and his wife own the business and they groom several Yorkies so let's hope they can groom mine properly! I'm just nervous because I don't know how the boys will act while they're there but it's only for a couple of hours and they're right down the street from me so it shouldn't be too bad. |

| Hi, I am a groomer. Tell them exactly what you want, nothing is necessary. It sounds like you want "bangs" instead of letting the topknot grow. Good Luck!

| I would suggest you print a picture of the hair cut you like from YT. There's tons to pick from in the photo gallery. That way you can show the groomer what you want instead of hoping she understands what you want. Do post before & after pictures!!!

| bugaboosmom...yes, just little bangs, my husband doesn't think his boys need bows! Oh, I love the name bugaboo...that was one of the many niknames we had for our first Yorkie. Dan & Corinne...the picture idea is a good one, I'll look around and see if I can find something that matches what we want. We did take an 8 x 10 color picture of Boog to a new groomer once and I couldn't believe my eyes when he came out...he looked nothing at all like his picture! She said that was 'her interpretation' of what she saw in the picture...she must have been one of those new age abstract artists or something! Needless to say she didn't get paid and we never went back. I'm hoping we have better luck this time! |
