Love

I consider Sirius to be a teeny- hes five months and weighs in at about 2lbs and some change. He is my precious little ball of fur. I had wanted a yorkie on the smaller side when i first started my yorkie search- i had thought i wanted one that would max out at about 2 lbs...but I am actually quite glad that siri will be a little bigger than that- about 4lbs full gorwn, i even not so secretly hope he will have a growth spurt and weigh about 5 or 6 lbs. Dont get me wrong- i LOVE that he is teeny- hes super cute and super easy to carry around. I just hate the being so nervous about him part- which i dont really think is 100% because of his size- he could be a saint bernard and id prob still worry just the same!
I love Sirius' size, but most of all i LOVE his personality. he is such a boy and thinks he is a great dane. he gives the best kisses and makes me sooo happy. for 2lbs of puppy, he provides me with an infinite amount of happiness and love. If he gets any cuter i might explode from loving him so much. I love the teenies, and the standards, and the above standards, and all the in between. There is no love like that of a yorkie- big medium small- its all the same- they love us unconditionally<33

Cali weighs 4.4 lbs but is so fine boned. She has not been the healtiest puppy and I worry ALL the time about her. I love the tinies but next time I will do more research and only buy one that is 12 weeks or more old, been liver shunt tested and not the smallest of the litter.

Gracie is 15 months old and 3 1/2 lbs. She's very petite. Griffin is 4 months old and was 4.2 lbs. at the vet a couple of weeks ago! He's a moose compared to her. Of course the breeder said HIS parents were 4 & 5 lbs. each, and even though I saw pictures of them, I'm guessing that was a pretty good ploy to sell him!

We have had 3 Yorkies, all sizes - like the 3 bears! Raven was 9 lbs., Gizmo was 6 lbs., and Hope is 3.5 lbs. They all were (are) great in their own ways!
We have been very lucky.

I think my baby will be about 4-5 lbs and I'm thinking that is a good size. He's a few days short of 11wks and he is 1lb 13 oz. He however has not grown any in the last two weeks. I have him weighed at the daycare often to see if he's growing! I don't want him to be too tiny though because clothes are hard to find in XS or XXS! I wouldn't know what to do if I had a 2 lb full grown baby! Oh yeah they are cute, but I think 4lbs is just about perfect, still small but big enough to find clothes for and harnesses for and such. I have an XS harness for Harley now and it is very loose on him!

We did want a small dog so we could take him boating. We didn't expect him to be so small-3lbs! He is a spitfire and we love him to pieces. We would have loved him if he was bigger too!

We love our tiny Toto with all our hearts!! When our 13 yr. old Poodle, Nicole, died I was so devestated, I couldn't even function ... I thought I would die [and didn't care if I did]. I told Patrick, at that time, not to ever, ever even mention another pet to me. I swore I would never get that attached to another animal as long as I lived! After some 6 + years, he began to try to show me these adorable little faces online ... I wouldn't even look ... just warned him not to start that again! Did I say, Patrick is the most maddeningly persistent person on the face of the earth? He kept on ... finally got me to glance at them ... caught me preoccupied and I would mutter, "whatever", just to shut him up. After about a year of this ... I found myself drawn into "Yorkie magic" ... I had only seen pictures while Patrick had been reading/studying and without my realizing it, talked me into at least considering/looking! We were working on a project in Missouri and before I knew it ... we had an appointment to meet Ava Tyree in Marietta, GA who had a little one who appeared would be too small to show ... an appointment to meet a vet who's specialty is Yorkies .... and I was almost getting excited! By the time we drove to AL and the day finally came ... I felt like I was being "railroaded" ... I simply hadn't properly mourned Nicole ... what could he possibly be thinking?!? As it turned out, Ava was bringing some of her little ones to the vet and it was closer to meet there so we made arrangements to meet and take a look at a Yorkie puppy! Very long story short ... we met and the minute I held Toto in my arms I was totally captured by this tiny 1 1/2 lb. furball and we have never looked back! Our lives totally revolve around her!

I would like to caution those of you who have tinies about one thing. Toto comes from a long line of champions, her breeder is totally dedicated to the betterment of the breed and she is disgustingly healthy!! She has been tested/xrayed inside out to make positive there isn't anything lurking that we might overlook.

Her only problem is us!! Last year, Patrick reached down to pick her up one night, and she began screaming! We rushed her to our vet [we were in Colorado] and he x-rayed and found that because we have allowed our baby, who has a frame that only supports a scant 3 lbs., to weigh a little over 5 lbs.!! Five of her little ribs had seperated and after some time and medication healed. We have tried to take the weight off but to date she is still overweight. Soooo ... since there has been no progress with such a hard winter and no exercise to speak of ... "springtime in the Rockies" is bringing a totally new routine for little Toto and she isn't happy!! We are slowly beginning an exercise program for her and hope by next winter she will be a slim, trim 3 pounder again ... not for us, but for her!! It's still a learning experience for us!

I do love the tinies, they are so precious and sweet. Jake is 4 1/2 lbs. and is very tiny. He is all hair because when he's wet, there is nothing to him! In fact, when we cut his hair last summer, he weighed 8 oz. less after the haircut. Jackson is 6 1/2 lbs. and seems so much bigger. We are extremely fortunate in that both are very healthy. But, I admit that I worry and watch after Jake much more than Jackson. As much as I love the tinies, I also love Jackson's size. He's still a small dog, but his build and structure seem so much more sturdy than Jake's. Jake seems fragile, but he's not at all....he's a tough little guy! But, I'm still extra careful around him. I would hate to step on him.

I think the tinys are cute!!! I think the bigger ones are cute too! I consider my Bella (3lbs) a tiny, to me she's small, but then again so is my Rocky who is 6lbs. While Bella is healthy and seems very strong, I wouldn't go and purposely buy a tiny just from all the stories I've read on here about health issues, or getting hurt.

My Jack is almost 10 months and weighs 3.6 lbs and My new baby Mia is 9 weeks and weighs 1.8 lbs. I don't know what Jack's parents weighed. I got him at 9 months from a family who could not keep him because of allergies. I saw Mia's parents. Her mom weighs 3.5 lbs and dad is 4.0 lbs. She was from a litter of 2 and is very healthy and happy. She eats more than Jack does. I love having these babies and I also worry about them getting hurt.

Okay, I just had to start this thread. There has been lot's of discussion on this site about size. Yorkie standard size, big Yorkies, tiny Yorkies. We all know they are all Yorkies, and all wonderful in their own ways. HOWEVER, having had dogs of all sizes and various breeds over the years. I must state that nothing, I repeat, NOTHING compares to the love of a tiny Yorkie!!!!!!

I know that heath is an issue. I hope and pray that my tiny, Zoe will not have any major health problems in her lifetime. Also, breeding specifically for tiny's in not good. Zoe came from standard size parents. I bought her hoping for a 4 lb dog. Looks like she may make it to 3 lbs, but the vet is not sure.

It's so awesome though to come home to a tiny, excited Yorkie who celebrates your arrival for about 5 minutes. She's so tiny that she just flutters around in your arms, hardly weighing anything at all. She's learned to stay away from our feet, just close enought to brush our ankles, but not close enough to be in danger.

She is not safe around small children though. They are drawn to her, and squeeze her too hard, but there is no one under 19 in our household.

The breeder charged more than double for her. I could have bought two furbabies large enough to breed for what I paid for Zoe, but she's so tiny that she can go almost anywhere with me, easily. Only problem is she causes such a commotion if anyone notices her. It's actually embarassing.

I don't blame the breeder for charging more. She could have gotten even more than I paid, and breeding does have it's costs.

All in all, I'm glad Zoe is turning out smaller than I expected. She is such a blessing!! I look forward to coming home to my human family, and Zoe just adds to that enjoyment.

May the celebration never end!!!

And may you all enjoy your babies as much no matter their size!!

OMG .... that sounds like us ....... no kidding !!!

I have a small one too ...... Mayas weighs in 2.7 lbs. at 14 months .....

She may be a tiny thing but she is FAST ..... ... too fast for me .....

I was worried at first with her being so small but she is fine and the Vet does his regular checks and he says that as for now she has NO health Problems .....

We used to take her with us ALL over the Place but I leave her at home now .... but never longer than 4 hr. .....

Did anyone notice how old this thread is? lol..

I have a tiny..I didn't realise how little she was going to be..i thought maybe 4 lbs..her breeder DID warn me she was going to be small..she's 3lbs and 11 months..and as much as i love her she IS hard work and a worry! her health has been great so far but sometimes i worry she's not eating enough and i worry about her getting injured in some way...you can't help but be a little overprotective of these tinies...and going out specifically to get one should NOT be taken lightly imo...they are a a huge responsibility and need extra special care...
