| Question for new, ignorant member Hi all, I just found this site and I am so excited about it. I do have a question. I am one of those irresponsible owners who kept putting off getting my baby girl spayed (she is 8 months now). I came home today to find out she is in heat. Can anyone give me a range of days that I might expect this to be? And can I get her spayed right after she is done or do I need to way some period of time. Thanks for your help. JP and Diva |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I don't know for sure but I waited too long with my Pom 8 years ago and they said to wait 2 months but I'm not sure if that is right. Cali is going to be 8 months in a couple of weeks and I have put off having her spayed too! I better make that appointment. Good luck

| Call your vet. You may be able to have her spayed during heat and be done with it.

| No personal experience here but someone just posed a thread with the same question. It was said to be about 3 weeks. I don't know how to do a link so I copy the entire thing from the address bar. Here it is: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/sho...750#post424750 |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | A full heat cycle is 21 days or 3 weeks. You can get the doggie panties to help with the mess if she's not cleaning herself. At this age, they may be a little messy since they are young and immature. Keep her away from ANY intact male. She is WAY too young to be bred. Best of luck to ya!

| Thanks Thanks to everyone! I did buy some of those patie things today and she won't walk in them. I even put her favorite treat in her bowl and she wouldn't walk over to it. So it looks like I will be carrying her around this weekend. I will call my vet in the morning. Thanks again for all your help. I think I am going to really like this group! Jp and Diva |

Donating YT 14K Club Member | She'll get use to having them on...just takes a while so don't give up and carry her around everywhere. Once she figures out that they won't hurt her, she'll be just fine! Oh, and WELCOME!!!!!!

| I'm glad you all thought my title mix-up was funny. I didn't want to offend anyone by having them think I was calling some one else ignorant! |
