Interesting walk habits Whenever i walk my baby boy he follows behind me... were talking right behind me, if i stop he nocks into my heels. Does anyone else find this? I've just found with every other dog i've had they always walk in frount... so this seems a little odd. I don't think it's a problem really, bu if anyone has had the same experience or anyone has ideas if i should change this behavior it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

How cute....mine don't walk quite that close but Chai is usually where ever I am. Hefner is more independent.

Mine does!!! Toby will do that sometimes. It's like he knows if he walks behind me, I won't step on him. But he does that when I get up from the computer to go into the other room. He'll run over by the door and then follow me as I go. Now, when we're out and about, he wants to run wherever he can. So I guess it's just something when we're inside. (by the way, I never remember stepping on him when he was a puppy -- I was always very careful) My first yorkie was always getting under my feet. I would try to step over or around her, and she would always seem to end up where my foot was coming down. I learned to step very lightly around her.

When we go for walks, Teddy would try to explore everything in sight. He goes sideways and ahead of us. He rarely stays behind by our heels. He's a fast little runner though. Once he shot out of our front door and my husband has to sprint to catch up to him and bring him back. He almost gave me a heart attack. Does your yorkie tries to explore at all during walks i.e sniff around at certain things?

| For a young puppy, I don't think that's unusual behavior at all. As he gets older and more confident, I expect it will change. I wouldn't worry about it!

Mitzi walks a little ahead of me, and she always stops and looks back to make sure I'm there. It seems to me as if she's taking me for a walk. She doesn't like being behind me, lol!! She's a Leader, not a follower!! LOL!! I do have to be careful with her though, she's a in and out of my feet gal. Any idea why she circles my ankles? She just goes around and around. LOL

If your yorkie walks behind you, consider yourself lucky! lol. When I take Jess out she is pulling SO hard that her pads sometimes bleed! I would love to take her out without all the barking, yelping, pulling and bleeding Anyone would think she has never seen the street in her life!
