| a brown or pink spot can be "winter nose" as the weather warms it should go away.

| Thanks for the info! I can't imagine that Teddy's that cold. We live in San Diego and the avg temp here lately has been in the 70s...plus it's pretty warm in the home. Could it be seasonal? |

| Is it a really light ... almost pink ... color? It sounds like what our vet called "Snow Nose". It's a loss of pigmentation and usually is nothing but looks a little odd. Our Toto has it down the middle of her nose and it gets darker in the summer. Our vet told us that we shouldn't be concerned about it unless other places i.e., lips, eyelids or any other black skin began to show loss of pigmentation. Sometimes that's a sign of some health problem going on but so far the only place Toto has is on her nose! Hope this helps. Opps!! Kimberly & I must have posted at the same time ... or ... I'm old & slow!!

| I have heard two things on this: 1. Needs more sun (hence the winter nose name since people don't go out as much) and 2. Change eating dish to stainless steel or china - plastic could cause this. I do not have experience with this but I have read this before.

| Thanks so much for all the insight. Hopefully after the winter months, the nose goes back to normal color. The color on Teddy's nose is like a light brownish color that's only in the middle. I hope it's nothing serious. Our last vet visit for Teddy's last round of puppy's shot went well. The vet checked everything and didn't say anything was wrong except getting his baby teeth taken out soon. So I hope the discoloration is nothing serious. Thanks everyone for your help!!! |
