I have a male Maltese who will be 3 in May. He is 9 1/2 pounds and my little girl Yorkie is 7 1/2 months old and just under 4 pounds. They are great buddies! The maltese took to the Yorkie pretty quickly. Every once in a while they fight (usually over a bully stick or some other treat) but otherwise they are wonderful together. Their sizes really compliment each other. The maltese is bigger but not too big to hurt my yorkie baby. Enjoy your two 'kids'. You're going to love having two dogs!!

Mine are the BEST of friends/ Yorkie is a male, Maltese is a female. Both have recently been fixed, however they got along great before and after. They are both the same age about six months and we couldn’t be happier. The Maltese if constantly mothering Surfie, and it’s adorable. They kiss each other nonstop, play, sleep together, and occasionally bark in unison, good luck with that one, Tiki’s bark is deadly, Surfie’s is just cute. Enjoy~! Janell

Right now, my yorkie (female) does not want to do anything with my Maltese (female). Wonder too how long this"snob attitude" would last?

I have a maltese(male) 4 months old and a 2 month Yorkie(female), we have had my maltese since he was 8 weeks, and tinkerbell(yorkie) we got her at 6 weeks. Chiquito(maltese) wants nothing to do with her , she loves him though. I was wondering the same thing, wether they'll ever get along . They don't sleep together because of the age difference but my maltese won't pay her any attention when they out of their xpen . I hope they get along soon. Tinkerbell is really clingy and Chiquito is very independant, when she climbs and wines for me to carry her, he gets mad and starts jumping on me also to carry him , and he only does this when i am carrying her. I think he is jeoulus of her .

| We have a yorkie, Gracie, and a Maltese, Sammie. They get along well and play together. They are pretty much inseparable too. Sammie is completely different from Gracie in temprament. He is really laid back and very sweet. Nothing seems to bother him. Gracie, on the other hand, is a very high maintenance, pouty, complaining, picky, attention hogging, Yorkie Princess. We are nuts about both of them.
