pantene shampoos (as well as most other drugstore brand shampoos) use cheap detergents and then try to make up for their stripping effects by adding more cheap ingrediants such as 'pro-vitamins' which claim to "nourish" your hair. hair is dead. you cannot "nourish" something something that isn't living.
pantene conditioners (as well as most other drugstore brand conditioners) coat the hair with silicone which makes it seem to be softer and more managable. after long term use though, it coats the hair so much that it becomes brittle and breaks off. it also makes the hair more resistant to chemical services such as coloring, straightening, perming, etc.
personally, i stay away from drugstore hair products and chose sulfate-free shampoos from the salon instead.
