| Had to share my funny story!!! One morning, Mojo and I went for our morning walk. When got back to the house, I let him off his leash to play fetch, etc. After he got bored with that, he went over to his pee spot (near a wood pile at the edge of the woods) - I was only a few feet away, picking up some toys from our German Shepard (Sophie). Sophie was in the woods just barking away - likes she does all the time! - She can not stand for anything to be near the house (a bird at the bird feeder, a squirrel in a tree, a mole under ground, etc). Well, all of the sudden, she comes running out of the woods backwards with her ridge (hair down back) standing up. I had no clue what she was doing. Well, she goes back over there because she sees Mojo over there (and being the protector she is, she had to be by him). She goes back in the woods (by the pond - which you can't see from the house), in no time, she is running back out and Mojo looks at me with that "save me momma" look on his face and starts running (prancing) towards me. - you know, that cute little prance they do!! Sophie had already made it to the porch, so I grab Mojo (not knowing what was going on). I hear something BIG and heavy coming through the woods - underbrush breaking, leaves crunching, etc - I thought, oh no, a bear!!! (We live by national forests and get all sorts of wildlife). So, I take off running toward the house with Mojo. I turn around and see a .................DONKEY coming out of the woods!! Oh my!!! She wanted nothing to do the Sophie, so I kept Sophie in the house. I finally got the donkey to come near me and tied her up....drove around because I remembered seeing a donkey in a field close by. Anyway, the owner came several hours later to get her (her name was Jenny). She was actually a really nice donkey, most can be pretty mean. I thought she could find her way back home (most horses, etc. do), but I didn't want to take that chance. She hasn't been back since....it was actually kind of nice having another animal in the yard....until I had to clean up several "piles" she left behind!! I just wanted to share - we still laugh about it to this day (it is one of those "you had to be there" moments) - course, I get into telling stories, so to listen to it is pretty comical too! You never know who will be visiting when you live in the country!!!

| That is way too funny. We have goat and he sometimes wanders off and we get phone calls frequently to go and get him. He has on a collar with a tag and usually a bandanna. If I saw the Donkey, I just might have to keep him. No, just joking. I would never take someone else's pet.

| What a funny story. Now, I take exception to the donkey being mean part, though. I own one donkey jack (Diamond Jack Jiggles) and personally know several others. I do not know of one mean donkey, however, donkeys DO NOT and I repeat do not like dogs. In fact, donkeys are often pastured with sheep and goats as guardian animals. Last summer the following pics were widely circulated. According to the information, two men were hunting the rouge mountain lion when the lion circled around and was tracking the men. The mule threw his rider and the other man snapped the pics. I contacted the ADS (American Donkey Society) and they have said that they can't positively authenticate the photographs, but this is the way in which a donkey will attack an enemy. |

I've seen those pix and wondered if they were real or not - they sure look real. i think it is a mule in the pix though - a cross between a horse and donkey, not sure but I think so.

Your little Jiggy is ADORABLE!!! The plant nursery where I shop has two little burrows - they are very small and sooo cute. Is there a difference between a donkey and a burrow???
