We have sneaked lil bear in many times, she has even been sneaked into weddings and mass. It can be a little nerve wracking(sp) worrying about them barking but we haven't had an issue. esp when lil bear was a puppy. Though we will carry a noise type bark collar and muzzle, but when she sees them she knows not to bark, when we go out we put her in her bag. Moose did well on her first trip too. We make sure we have the tv on most of the time so if they do bark people might think it is animal planet or a movie. |
For Christmas my husband and I went up to North Carolina. There was NO WAY we were going to leave Scruffy alone for that long. We took her with us and the first night we could not find a pet friendly hotel. We figured it wouldn't matter she is so small anyways. Well the hotel had a policy they could charge you $150 and kick you out of the room! We were so terrified of being caught....and then Scruffy was so nervous of being in a strange place that she was barking at everyone that walked by the room....we also had to sneak her outside to pee....well, we had such a bad night that we checked out and found ourselves a pet friendly place...They aren't as nice as the no pet hotels but atleast we slept in peace...We left her in the hotel when we went to eat... We always left the TV on though to keep her company. If you leave her in the hotel make sure to place the "do not disturb" sign. This will keep the made or anyone else in the hotel staff from opening the door and your little Yorkie running away. Yaremis |

The thing that aggrivates us is that regardless of how nice the hotel is ... the first thing we have to do when we check in is go over the entire room, especially the floor, for things that Toto can get into. You would be surprised at the yukky stuff under the edge of the spread, etc. ;) |
I don't know if I could do it either....my little guy likes to bark....We have a motorhome so that helps a lot, but there are time that we can't take it or don't want to take it....I always try to find a pet friendly hotel/motel....but it can be hard and if that was the case, he would go in with us. I would be afraid to leave him alone....you never know what happens in a room when you are gone!!! |
I have to say that, yes, I would do it! If I was to do it I would crate Chewy and not let him have the run of the room. I just could not imaging leaving him in a kennel :( |

If we have to evacuate again, I am having them fax me something in writing stating that I can bring Gracie. |
Sneak Her In I have been able to sneak my Yorkies in MANY times. It's not that difficult, I wrap them in a baby blanket and carry them in my arms. Looks like a blonde baby. Better to have a motel where you don't have to go through the lobby. But, I have done it through the lobby as well. Then take her out in a bag that looks like a handbag. |
Sneak Him in! Hi. Yes, I sneak my yorkie into hotels when he is in the states with me. That is another reason we live in Europe. When we check into hotels in Europe, he often gets better service and treatment than we do! Having said that, he doesn't bark, doesn't chew, never messes up and seems to know that we are doing a naughty when we sneak him into a hotel in the states. He ducks his head in my bag and stays very quiet while we walk through the lobby. We make sure that we walk him morning, afternoon and night, though he usually spends the days with us. If you can find a dog friendly hotel, all the better, otherwise, do not cancel your trip. Remember, if a member of staff catches you, bribes go a long way! The last time we went to a four star hotel together in Genoa, Italy, he jumped up on the luggage cart after the bellman had loaded our bags and rode it up the elevator and all the way to our room. He did this of his own accord. He is a really bizarro dogtator (he rules). |
Im not telling you to sneak your pup in. But I did it once. We kept Gucci in the bathroom if we had to leave the room for a little while and let the TV on and not disturb sing at the door. Gucci did pretty good. Only time they notice Gucci was when we were checking out, the lady notice the bag and she didnt say anything. I made sure that she used her pads at all times. We even had to sneak her in into Applebee's. I know thats wrong, but i wasnt going to leave her in the car; it was winter so it was cold. She slept the whole time we were at the restaurant. If you can't find a pet friendly hotel, I think you can sneak her in just be careful. Good luck. Enjoy your trip. |
We also sneak Zoe into hotels....we put her in a duffel bag or a pillow case...they never know....In February it will be more challanging....we have to sneak Zoe and Lizzy in a hotel..for 2 days...it should be interesting.... |

If you are going to Great Lodge it may be a bit difficult to smuggle them in ...if it is Zehnders there are a lot of "side" entrances and you should be able to get them in pretty easy- just keep your do not disturb on the door....use pads and crate when out of room- you should be able to pull it off..... |
