Sneak her into motel ???? We are going out of town for the night ( taking the kids to a swimpark motel ) and can't find anyone to look after Reese. She is only 2 pounds and I am tempted to sneak her into the motel with us for the night............I REFUSE to leave her alone for 24 hours !! I have to keep reminding my hubby she is NOT like a cat !!! So it has come down to either we take her, or we don't go at all. Would you take your furbaby with you ?? By the way, she is completely puppy pad trained. |
I'm chicken, I couldn't do it. This one time we were staying at a hotel and they knew that we had Trixie with us and were fine with it. But the pet policy said not to leave the dog alone in the room under any circumstances. Well, my husband and I were just going to get some dinner. And all the way to the restaurant I was sweating and so worried that she was going to make a noice and they'd find her by herself. We actually turned around, and ordered in :embarasse But to cancel the trip... is the motel not accepting animals? Is there another motel or hotel close by that does? I would say other people might tell you to take her... Like I said, I'm just chicken... |
I would be terrified that he would decide to go on a chewing rampage and destroy the hotel room. Maybe just look for another hotel that does allow pets. |
I could never do it. I would be afraid my dogs would bark and we would get caught. |
I did it!! We just had gotten nina at 9 weeks. We went to the casinos for new years eve, and noone was the wiser. We even took apart her crate and wrapped a sweatshirt around it, and she was in her bag. We tired her out before we had to walk through, but its loud in there anyway. :D Patty and Nina |
motel My goodness, I do it all the time..and NOT just one...last time it was FOUR adults and a litter of 3 puppies. We always try to find a pet friendly, but many times it is not possible. I look for a motel with an outside entrance..the type when you park your car infront of the door...but I have stayed in places with lobbies and had to put them in a tote bag and go up in the elevator, one by one. One time I had to make 5 trips to the car and bring them in covered under my coat..once in the room, my Yorkies are quiet and I NEVER leave them alone. I do not let them pee on the carpets..I put panties on them or belly bands. I also take a pen and folding gates to make a barrier in the bathroom area if need be..I cover the floor with wee wee pads too...this is what "dog" people have to do sometimes! LOL |
I would find a place that takes furbabies. You wouldn't want to be worried all day on your trip. I'm sure your kids want to go, so I would look for a new place to stay. :) |
We have done it a couple of times...when Magic was little we were staying at a hotel and they did not know we had her...she stayed quiet and didn't bark or destroy anything, we made sure she used her pee pads or went outside and would just carry her in under cover!! We never got caught and we did leave Magic by herself for a little bit but she slept the whole time and did great!! I would say to either try and find a pet friendly hotel or take her and just try and keep things quiet!! |

I would totally do it. I would bring her crate though so she doesnt chew anything she not supposed to up, but if its only for one day it should be fine! I am bring Thor to the beach with me at spring break to a not dogs allowed house...well they are allowed with a rediculous deposit. There will actually be two dogs there. You better believe they he will be crated when im not there. Good luck to you and I hope you hvae a great time! |

I have traveled many times with my poodle. sometimes it was at a motel that did not allow pets. never got into trouble. Sometimes it is at a pet friendly motel and all they ask is that we crate the dog if we want the maid to come in. i did crate her once but usually I notify maid service that we will not be needing her that day and she has the run of the room. |
I would try to find a Motel 6, if there is one near where you are going. Dogs are welcome there without additional charge. Every location has different policy though so you always need to check on the local pet policy. Good luck and have a nice trip. |

I would just take her with you and turn the TV on all the time....lol Francie |
When we evacuated for Katrina, the hotel said that they took pets, we got there and they changed their story. They told me that I would have to put her in a near by kennel. FAT CHANCE!!!! I acted like I did, but snuck Gracie in and got caught on the second day (she barks alot). They threatened to kick me out (my daughter was 3 months old at the time). There were no available hotels anywhere. I caused a scene in the lobby in front of a WHOLE BUNCH of people from Louisiana. Dog in one hand baby in another, the people from Louisiana had my back and I am happy to report I stayed in that hotel for 2 weeks WITH GRACIE!!! They gave us free breakfast for our entire stay and all of the sudden treated us like royalty. I let Gracie pee on the carpet the day we left (I know, I'm bad). Sometimes I regret not throwing that turd under the bed :D |
We have sneaked lil bear in many times, she has even been sneaked into weddings and mass. It can be a little nerve wracking(sp) worrying about them barking but we haven't had an issue. esp when lil bear was a puppy. Though we will carry a noise type bark collar and muzzle, but when she sees them she knows not to bark, when we go out we put her in her bag. Moose did well on her first trip too. We make sure we have the tv on most of the time so if they do bark people might think it is animal planet or a movie. |
For Christmas my husband and I went up to North Carolina. There was NO WAY we were going to leave Scruffy alone for that long. We took her with us and the first night we could not find a pet friendly hotel. We figured it wouldn't matter she is so small anyways. Well the hotel had a policy they could charge you $150 and kick you out of the room! We were so terrified of being caught....and then Scruffy was so nervous of being in a strange place that she was barking at everyone that walked by the room....we also had to sneak her outside to pee....well, we had such a bad night that we checked out and found ourselves a pet friendly place...They aren't as nice as the no pet hotels but atleast we slept in peace...We left her in the hotel when we went to eat... We always left the TV on though to keep her company. If you leave her in the hotel make sure to place the "do not disturb" sign. This will keep the made or anyone else in the hotel staff from opening the door and your little Yorkie running away. Yaremis |

The thing that aggrivates us is that regardless of how nice the hotel is ... the first thing we have to do when we check in is go over the entire room, especially the floor, for things that Toto can get into. You would be surprised at the yukky stuff under the edge of the spread, etc. ;) |
I don't know if I could do it either....my little guy likes to bark....We have a motorhome so that helps a lot, but there are time that we can't take it or don't want to take it....I always try to find a pet friendly hotel/motel....but it can be hard and if that was the case, he would go in with us. I would be afraid to leave him alone....you never know what happens in a room when you are gone!!! |
I have to say that, yes, I would do it! If I was to do it I would crate Chewy and not let him have the run of the room. I just could not imaging leaving him in a kennel :( |

If we have to evacuate again, I am having them fax me something in writing stating that I can bring Gracie. |
Sneak Her In I have been able to sneak my Yorkies in MANY times. It's not that difficult, I wrap them in a baby blanket and carry them in my arms. Looks like a blonde baby. Better to have a motel where you don't have to go through the lobby. But, I have done it through the lobby as well. Then take her out in a bag that looks like a handbag. |
Sneak Him in! Hi. Yes, I sneak my yorkie into hotels when he is in the states with me. That is another reason we live in Europe. When we check into hotels in Europe, he often gets better service and treatment than we do! Having said that, he doesn't bark, doesn't chew, never messes up and seems to know that we are doing a naughty when we sneak him into a hotel in the states. He ducks his head in my bag and stays very quiet while we walk through the lobby. We make sure that we walk him morning, afternoon and night, though he usually spends the days with us. If you can find a dog friendly hotel, all the better, otherwise, do not cancel your trip. Remember, if a member of staff catches you, bribes go a long way! The last time we went to a four star hotel together in Genoa, Italy, he jumped up on the luggage cart after the bellman had loaded our bags and rode it up the elevator and all the way to our room. He did this of his own accord. He is a really bizarro dogtator (he rules). |
Im not telling you to sneak your pup in. But I did it once. We kept Gucci in the bathroom if we had to leave the room for a little while and let the TV on and not disturb sing at the door. Gucci did pretty good. Only time they notice Gucci was when we were checking out, the lady notice the bag and she didnt say anything. I made sure that she used her pads at all times. We even had to sneak her in into Applebee's. I know thats wrong, but i wasnt going to leave her in the car; it was winter so it was cold. She slept the whole time we were at the restaurant. If you can't find a pet friendly hotel, I think you can sneak her in just be careful. Good luck. Enjoy your trip. |
We also sneak Zoe into hotels....we put her in a duffel bag or a pillow case...they never know....In February it will be more challanging....we have to sneak Zoe and Lizzy in a hotel..for 2 days...it should be interesting.... |

If you are going to Great Lodge it may be a bit difficult to smuggle them in ...if it is Zehnders there are a lot of "side" entrances and you should be able to get them in pretty easy- just keep your do not disturb on the door....use pads and crate when out of room- you should be able to pull it off..... |
