hubby was relentless at first, then I kept asking and asking even combining b-day with xmas gift(bday is Nov.14)... so he finally saw me moping around and said you can get her, might as well I know you want it REALLY bad and he was tired of seeing me mop around! |
My husband has always wanted 2 dogs because he said it wasn't fair to just have one, I was the one too afraid. One I got over the fear and got Cali we both said we would never have only 1 dog at a time. Because Maya is 9 and cali is 7 months she still needs another puppy to play with. We were thinking of waiting a couple of years and get two puppies. I told him yesterday that with Cali being sick the other night I wanted to get another one soon. He said fine. I fell this way I take care of the dogs and if I want 10 so be it. Fortunately he feels the same way. |
I didn't get him into it... he got ME! We have always had 2 yorkies until recently. We lost both our old kids this past summer. And then we got Wosie. Due to the fact that I had to carry Wosie around for 3 months because we needed her broken leg to set properly, she has glommed on to me as her PERSON, and loves me to pieces. She does love Dave too, but she cries and freaks out when I leave the room and he is still in there! So he was feeling a bit deprived of yorkie love. When I happened upon a person who wanted to adopt her yorkie out, I took her info figuring I could post it here on YT and find a home for her pup. When I got home I told Dave about Dreama, and he said, "Why don't we go look at her"? SURPRISED the stuffing right out of ME!! So now we have her, he has his dog, I have mine, and hopefully as soon as she gets her bearings, we will all live happily ever after! :D |
Jaspermom Yea, I remember your story with Dreama. I was actually in that situation about two weeks ago and my husband said no way when it came to adopting the dog. They ended up changing their minds anyway about giving the dog away but the point was he said no way..... I think I'm going to have to try something like bargening... Hope it works |
I hear ya! Quote:
Good luck with your bargaining!! Hope it works!! :) |
I had two dogs already, one was 13 years and the other 7 years. I wanted a small dog though really bad and I always loved the yorkie. I gave him the option, I wanted a puppy for our ten year anniversary or I was picking out a really expensive ring. Alot of begging helped too until he finally gave in. First he was all like I will pay for it but I am not having anything to do with taking care of it. Well that part was easy, I take care of the other two. Now he does not want to go anywhere without taking Nelly with us, she has him wrapped around her finger. He does not like the other dogs on the bed but Nelly has free reign, his excuse is that she is small and does not take up much room, but I know it is because he loves her just as much as we do. Getting pictures and having them come up on the computer everytime he logged on helped as well. |
That's EASY! I just left work one day and went and got Gracie. Was my husband pi$$ed? Sure he was, but he got over it! :D |
I forgot to say (your husband might not believe it) having 2 of them is so much easier than having one. When we just had Chloe I couldn't get anything done around the house because I was always having to keep her company. Now that we have Daisy too they keep each other company and they are always playing together and we dont have to give them as much attention. Dont get me wrong sometimes they want to be held and have their bellies rubbed but they play with each other so much that its so much easier to get things done around the house!!! |
Our breeder said it was a great idea to have 2, and that we should wait with no 2 till no 1 was fully trained and housebroken. After we had Kali for 3 months there was no doubt, we were absolutely getting a second when she turned 1 year - and we did and they LOVE each other. So stop mentioning it and let him get to know your first dog. He will love it and see that a number 2 is quite ok... |
Three letters. S E X Always works! |

You all are cracking me up! |
My daughter bought our Westie for my husband for fathers day in June. I had been wanting a Yorkie, but my husband thought one dog in the house was enough. We've been married 44 years and if I want something bad enough he always gives in. One of the teachers that I work with raises Yorkies. She had a beautiful little girl ( my Jasmine), from a Champion sire that the vet didn't give a clean bill of health as one of her back knees was a little weak. He said it may not ever bother her, but then again it might. She said I could have her at a very reduced price. However, when I started talking about her, my husband said, if you are going to get one, go ahead and pay full price and get one without problems. The minute I saw Jasmine however, I fell in love. I had to have her. It wasn't the money, I just knew it was meant to be. Funny thing is, he loves her as much as I do. She has won his heart. Her knee has never bothered her at all, but if it does, I will do whatever I have to do. The breeder is just so happy she has a wonderful home, and she was honest and didn't try to sell her without disclosing a potential problem |
Oh, and the SEX thing. It used to work for me. Just a couple of nights without and he was ready to give me anything I wanted. It doesn't work that way anymore after 44 years. At our age, if I hold out, it's a couple of weeks before he notices. |
