| Family dog dies in Tuesday afternoon blaze Stove accidentally left burning caused fire at Dover Twp. home Family dog dies in Tuesday afternoon blaze Posted by the Asbury Park Press on 01/25/06 BY MARGARET F. BONAFIDE TOMS RIVER BUREAU DOVER TOWNSHIP — A family dog died in a fire that started in the kitchen when a stove burner was accidentally left on at 56 Gladney Ave., authorities said Tuesday. Fire Chief Gary Dye of Toms River Fire Company 1 said that there was a full response from about 60 volunteers from Toms River companies 1 and 2, East Dover, Silverton, Pleasant Plains and the Island Heights fire companies. The call came in at 2:03 p.m., Dye said. Homeowner Tami Marie Rosales had left the home and when she returned she heard the smoke alarms sounding, said John Novak, inspector with the Dover Township Bureau of Fire Safety. The fire is not suspicious, Novak said. Rosales lived in the home with her 13-year-old son Andre, Novak said. They had a small Yorkshire terrier that Rosales tried unsuccessfully to find. "When I arrived there was fire coming out the (kitchen) window," Dye said. Firefighters aggressively battled the blaze but it was too late for the small dog, Novak said. "We found the dog in the bathroom adjacent to the kitchen," Novak said. The whole house was uninhabitable, Dye said. Louis Giminez lives down the street from Rosales and was sorry to hear the news. He had come home about 2:30 p.m. and the street was blocked by fire trucks. The home is near the corner of Gladney and Whittier avenues. A neighbor had told him that the firefighters had tried to get the dog out. Giminez said he remembered the dog because it had left the home one time and he returned the dog to the owner, Rosales. "When I came around Whittier, the side on Whittier was pretty bad," Giminez said. http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/art...plate=printart

| that is so sad. I have often worried about this myself, for fear something would happen to my house.. and how would our dogs survive.

| That is so terrible!! What an incredible loss! I could not image the pain that they are going through right now. I will be saying a prayer for them tonight! I hope everyone will do the same.

| That is so sad. I used to live in Toms River and I have seen that house before. I don't know the people that live there though. My brother-in-law's niece's husband and one of my husband's friends from work are volunteer firefighters for Silverton Fire Company. Amy where did you live near Toms River and how long ago? I went to high school in Toms River and lived in the area until almost 3 years ago. |

This is another reason mine get put in their room, while I am gone or at bedtime..If something happen in the middle of the night ..I know right where they are and hopefully can get them out...There are 3 ways into their room. Through the front room, my bedroom or an outside door. | |
