| Buying my first yorkie...What do ya think Hello all, I am new here and am thinking about getting my first yorkie. I found this little angle in Felicity, Ohio. I think she is cute, But I dont know what to look for when going to check her out. Is she too hairy? The breeder said she has a bunch of hair. Is that a bad thing? Also she is 12 weeks and weighs 2lbs.6oz. Her parents are 4lbs and 7lbs. I am including pics so you can see what I have seen so far. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh, and please be honest if you see something I need to know about. thanks-tara |

| Welcome to YorkieTalk, Tara! She is very cute! I don't think she is too furry. She just has her cute little puppy coat. It seems like she is a healthy weight, too. Good luck with whatever you decide!

| First Yorkie I just got my yorkie about 2 months ago. I live in Waverly, Ohio. I just got a booth at the 23 SouthBound fleamarket. I dont know if you ever go, but its doggie stuff & I have a photo contest going on. If you do stop in & see me, we can have a coffee-bring your baby. As far as a name, you could look at the library in baby names book, it's hard to choose sometimes. Mine yorkies name is anna belle. stay in touch. |

| A health contract is important. As far as you picking the pup up and looking it over...the ears should not have an odor to them and you don't want to see a rash on the belly. You also don't want to see a lump (hernia) on the belly. The pup should not wobble AT ALL when put down to walk. The gums should be a healthy pink color....not a white color. The pup should not limp. Eyes should be alert and shiney and not glazed over or tired looking. It is a little bonus if the pup will let you place it on its back in your arms or on your lap.....that is a trust issue. Well, I guess I could run on and on, but these are a few things you can look over for yourself. Wishing you the very best and a healthy happy puppy! |
