| ![]() It's been a minute since I've been active here, but it's good to see the resources that this forum provides is still here and keeps getting additions. My first Yorkie, Canela, is kicking strong at 16. Her hearing is going, but don't let it be the mention of food or a treat, because that she can miraculously hear. Her eyesight is going as well, due to cataracts, but we're going to leave them, as she is older and her other eye makes up for it. We have been going to a cardiologist almost every year after she turned 12, just to make sure her heart murmur is stable, at it is. It actually sort of self reversed, but she'll always have it. It never really interfered with her, so it was never an option to "correct". Her teeth have been ok, just a couple have been removed with time. But, everything past her second/third molars are intact -- except her front tooth -- she lost that eons ago -- tooth barely had a root. She's still spunky as every, but she spends most of her day relaxed, sleeping, and overseeing the fish tank, the birds, and TV. She added a sister into the fold -- then a four year old who was rescued from a puppy mill and lived those years in a cage, with no human interaction. She's eleven now, and she's learned TONS, including trusting humans, from her older sister. Ruby has only two teeth -- poor nutrition and diet led to her having her teeth removed about four years ago, but she eats kibble perfectly fine (after I've watered it and mushed it down). These two little fine-haired furballs have been awesome to have as part of my life -- I even have a "Awesome Yorkie Dad" t-shirt to prove it. :P Anywho, I'll be catching up with threads here and there and see what I can be of service to folks on here. |

| ![]() Welcome back, thanks for the update on your pups. My last girl was with me for 17 years. It's a blessing to have them that long even with selective heaing lol and poor eyesight. Everyday Canela is with you is a gift to be treasured.
