| ![]() With all the knowledge here at YorkieTalk, I'm asking the community for some advice. We have a 2 1/2 year old Yorkie (Enzo) and will be bringing our new Baby (Zoey) home next week. What are some of the Do's & Dont's we should be looking at for introducing Zoey to hopefully her new bestie and big brother Enzo. We are terrified of Parvo and it was easy with Enzo because we just kept him at home without any other dogs around until he got his vaccinations and we will do the same for both dogs. Any Thoughts, Advice or Experience would be super helpful. Thanks, Gary!😊

| ![]() I never followed many rules for introducing the dogs to each other and honestly never had any issues. I would make sure you give them time with you apart from each other. Generally if you are giving a treat or putting food down it should go to Enzo first and then the new pup. He may also need a place where he can get away from the pup. Something to keep in mind about Parvovirus is it can come in on your clothes and shoes. Congrats on your new addition.

| ![]() Hi, so glad to see you again and congratulations on your new baby. I never had any issues adding a new puppy to my pack. I had 3, all 3 years apart. Puppies have a different smell than adult dogs. Whenever I bought a new baby home my older ones were scared of it, they didn't know what it was lol. With nippy puppy hanging off the older ones tail or whatever the puppy could latch on to, my girls stayed on high grounds (the sofa). It took about 2 months before the older ones would stay on the floor with crazy, nippy, zooming baby. Always make Enzo first for everything, first to be patted when you come home and they greet you, first to have his food bowl put down, first to get the treat. Make sure Enzo has a safe haven to get away from crazy baby. They will become BFF, it will just take a lil bit of time for Enzo to get use to the new crazy kid. No walks for the puppy until it has had all vaccines, appox. 5 months old. As Lovetodream has written, parvo can be bought into the home from the soles on people's shoes. Puppies are so much fun, enjoy yours, they grow so fast . And do let us know how they are coming along.
