| Picky eater taken to new level Liam is 2 1/2 now. He would get bored with his food and stop eating causing us to change. Last month we got a Yorkie puppy so he would have a brother. Now Liam is barely eating anything. He will eat treats and some people food. We don’t know what to do. We have a vet appointment this Friday to be sure it’s nothing medical. He seems fine otherwise. He and Quinn play all day. Any thoughts or advice is most welcome . |

| If there is nothing medically wrong then the issue is he has you trained. The best thing is no other treats or people food and continue to offer him his regular food and if nothing is medically wrong he should eventually eat it when he learns you are not going to change it or give in.

| Piper is as stubborn as the day is long, but due to health concerns she MUST eat her vet-prescribed (smells great, canned chicken and rice) food. I supplement with pieces of boiled chicken. Here's my dilemma...If Piper has an empty tummy, she gets sick; it looks sorta foamy. So of late, I have been "force-feeding" her the canned food, i.e. open her mouth put in food and wait for her to swallow. I only do a few bites at-a-time and wait several hours between feeding. It's a process, but I am determined to keep Piper healthy and well and happy and if this is how we gotta roll for awhile, so be it. And she is doing so much better the last few days. I am open to better ideas and help, for sure! |

| Thank you for excellent information, Taylor. I didn't know any of that and will speak with my vet at our upcoming visit Wednesday (23rd). Thank you again! |

| Piper eats more readily and just more if she can sit on couch and eat in family room. Yes, it's indulgent, but heck, it ain't no big thing, it's easy to do and if it gets her to chow down, so be it! And yes, I am coming along just fine in my training, too!!! PLUS...it really eases my stress and worry--and that IS a big thing!! |

| I have to put a little Parmesan on the kibble to get mine to eat. I also have to threaten the humans around here about no human food. They can have carrot sticks, cheerios, and bits of cheese for treats but that is it. |

| I had to do that when Dixie was a puppy. I faked her out one time and pretended to use the shaker to add it but didn’t and she thought I did and she ate lol.

| Just as we hoped Liam's vet appointment showed nothing wrong ( thankfully) that would cause his lack of interest in eating. He is a finicky eater. From what I see in this forum, its not uncommon for a Yorkie to demand a change in the menu! We did the Parmesan cheese , added broth and experimented with all kinds of food. We tried making our own from dog food recipes found online. What he did end up liking is the cheapest kibble in the world. His cousins eat that and he would scarf it down. Right now he is good for a few days and then goes on a hunger strike for a day. We don't make a big deal about it and since he doesn't get his desired result, he will begin to eat. He is very strong willed and stubborn like my wife, which is probably where he picked it up! |
