| My Yorkie 14 years old passed last Tuesday the 21. I am so sad and frustrated about the Veterinary I was taking my dog to. She had Collapse Trachea but she was doing well under Torbutrol and Temaril-P medication. She was also on Denamarin treatment for 3 months to improve her liver. On Tuesday she started coughing and I called the Vet and requested him for an appointment. They gave me an appointment for next Friday. I asked him should I increase the dose of Torbutrol to tried to control her cough before I bring her on Friday? He said yes. I increased the medication and took her for her appointment. He made X rays and Liver Profile. The diagnose was fluid in her lungs and send me home with Foroquid a diuretic. I gave her the diuretic twice on Friday. On Saturday morning she did not want to eat and had diarrhea. After the diarrhea she discharge a stream of fresh blood. I rush her to the Veterinary and he gave her IV and prescribed an antibiotic called Metronidazole. On Sunday she will not eat. Monday I took her back to the Vet in the morning and he gave her more IV. He prescribed a special food high in nutrition and calories and asked me to feed her with a syringe. On the same day I feeded her twice only a teaspoon of the food with dilute with water as indicated. Monday night my dog didn't sleep walking around the house and hiding in different places. Tuesday morning she was so weak could not walk and started having seizures. I rush to the Hospital and they told me her blood sugar was low and her blood pressure. They tried to save her but they told me she stop breathing. I am heart broken and thinking that maybe I could have done something different or that the Veterinary was Negligent. She was 14 but she was fine. I am trying to figure out if the blood that she defecated was a sign of some kind of liver or heard malfunction. I am just thinking and thinking why things went wrong? I am not clear why will the Veterinary keep sending me home and will not recommend to hospitalize her. Have someone lived an experience like this before. Or does someone knows these medications that my dog was prescribed? Any comment will be appreciated. I never thought my dog was going to died that soon. |

| There are no words for me to express my sorrow for your loss. When we select a Veterinarian to care for our fur babies we put our trust in them, follow their instructions because we trust them. You cannot blame yourself, you were following your vets instructions. I am not familiar with the meds that were given to your baby, so I cannot offer any help on that. Keeping you in my prayers and thoughts to make you strong and help you through this painful time (((HUGS)))

| I am so very sorry for your loss. It’s very normal to question the what ifs but don’t beat yourself up. When our babies get sick they tend to go down hill very fast. The one thing that sticks out to me is that they waited several days to get you in which my vet doesn’t my vet gets me in the same day.

| I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved yorkie daughter. Losing a little one rips a hole in your heart that never fully heals. In time you will be able to think of her with more smiles than tears. Sending healing and It is normal to have second guesses, but it only serves to cause more pain - it sounds like you did the very best you could to take care of her. You were blessed with 14 years of companionship and love, so try and hold on to the good times. Watching the slow and sometimes painful decline of a loved one - be it human or fur, is hell. |
