| Scruffy Puppy Hair I looked for a Grooming Thread and could not find one. Sorry. I am NOT computer savvy. Katy is 15 weeks and is CUTE AS A BUGS EAR! I do brush her daily..... I have put her top Knot in from time to time.... She does get her baths..... When, at what approx age does the Scruffy Puppy Look become, Swan? That beautiful longer hair look? Hair that after being brushed looks like it was groomed and brushed? I know, I know, how bred, hair type, but, approx.? |

| Puppy hair is definitely different from what their adult coat will be. I ended up having to shave my boys because they came to me so mated and their more adult coat came in after that. Joey was probably close to 12 or 15 weeks.

| That soft puppy hair will be knotted and matted just by looking at the baby. My advice is also to get a puppy cut and watch the adult hair start coming in. |

| I love puppy hair, the swan will come soon enough. Put the top knot in every day even if she pulls it out, she has to get use to the feel of something on her head.

| I tried the top knot with Gidget and she would have nothing to do with it. It stayed in maybe 2 seconds and she worked and worked until it came off. Doesn't mind he dresses, t-shirts and nightgowns but will have nothing to do with bows or top knots in hair. She's potty trained, loves visiting at the nursing home, doesn't make a sound when in a restaurant. So no top knot is fine with me. Last edited by lilgidget; 12-20-2019 at 05:53 AM. | Top Knots with better HAIR Bands, (small 'rubber' bands) stay in great. But sometimes go sideways. Ha Ha I do love the puppy hair, I do. But DANG! Even after brushing, the photos look.....SCRUFFY! But Indeed cute! Thanks for all the feedback. |

| You mean the scruffy puppy look goes away? Duchess is 8 years and still has the scruffy puppy look. I can get her a puppy cut and soon as her hair starts to grow back, her scruffy puppy look comes right back. |

| Ditto! Little cotton-coated Gus just got his hair cut down completely. He turns four tomorrow, and his hair gets solidly matted down to the skin as soon as it starts to grow back in. In Florida, the weather is at its nicest this time of the year, and he loves to romp in the gardens chasing lizards in the screened lanai. I cannot abide him looking like a plant himself with all the leaves that he drags inside, but I don't want to deny him the opportunity to play! Gus has a year-long close cut, while his brother, Tyrone the parti, has a silk coat that reaches the floor.

| My kid is a gift to me from my vet, he was shaved when I adopted him, I was hoping for nice silky hair, 8 months down the road I could see his hair was going to be scruffy, wavy, so off to the groomer for a puppy cut, that was 6 years ago. I keep him in puppy cut year round. I like the look of the cut, I also like to smooch him up and not worry about tangles. Even tho he is my prince I still want him to be a terrier, and if he wants to roll around in leaves and twigs he can, also, puppy cut is less work for the mama lol. He does sport a full face and his top knot pony tail. I love scruffy puppy hair, but not scruffy adult hair. My now passed Schnae always looked like she stuck her paw into the electrical outlet, talk about a bad hair day lol. She had that wavy hair

| Katy, 16 weeks old tomorrow, wears a Top Knot with no problems....it just looks, well? When she wears her Christmas Print/Striped PJs, we call her Cindy Lou Who! Ha Ha Honestly. THIS PUPPY IS SO DANGED CUTE! Her dam/mother had really nice, I mean really nice, Yorkshire Terrier hair. Her sir/daddy was not as close to the Standard of the Breed as her mama......but nice enough. His hair was cut, and I am betting, from the feel, more cottony. It is one of the two reasons we chose this pup and not the other. Katy was so much more like her mama.....seemingly, (as the books described it), human baby hair, and she was smaller and finer boned than the other pup. I am NOT looking for her to bloom into Conformational Show Quality! But I hope she does look like her little bitty mama. |

You guys! I LOVE YOUR SENSE OF HUMOR.....but I am drinking coffee! Ha Ha Katy is a HUNTRESS! Man, Oh Man! If there is a Mole Hill.....she is on it. And she will smell along the mound to find the fresh (or maybe the mole) and starts digging.....in her cute little coats with lace, bows and ribbons! I LOVE THE TERRIERS! Hats off and a nod to all the Tiny Hunters out there! | |
