When I had my pack of 3 tom boy girls all 3 years apart I could never keep any of them in a top knot, if they didn't get it off the other ones did, the baby they would latch on to her top knot and drag her until it came off lol, so no top knots for my tom boy girls. I now have a rescue boy, I was determined he was going to have a top knot. He was 2 1/2 years old and the only fur kid. For 2 months we battled with the top knot. I use latex rubber bands, they do not break the hair, in the house I use claws. He did get use to a top knot and no problems anymore.

It is a challenge in puppies with top knots, been there lol.
