| People asked I was looking for some yorkie info. and as usual when googled all these links come up. First on the list was "People asked" the following is what I found who agrees or disagrees. People asked At what age is a Yorkie full grown? Yorkies are considered to be full-grown adults at four years old. They should have reached the average weight of approximately six and a half pounds, or 3.17 kg. Generally, this is considered to be the point at which Yorkies stop growing in height. Lifespan ( from dogmal.com)HomeDog health Yorkshire Terrier generally lives an average of 12 to 15 years. So this breed has a longer life expectancy than other breeds. In the United States, domesticated canines generally for about 12.67 years, while they live a year lesser in the UK with 11.08 years. Female Yorkies live – on average – 1.5 years longer than males. While this is not considered an exceptionally long life expectancy Hypoallergenic: Yes Life span: 12 to 15 years Height: Male: 17 cm (Adult) Origin: England Temperament:Bold How Long Do Yorkies Terrier usually Live There are 2 main reasons why this breed does have a life span that is longer than the national average: 1) The Yorkshire Terrier is a rather healthy breed. The majority of health issues that Yorkies contend with are not fatal. 2) Toy breeds live longer than medium and large breed dogs What is the life expectancy of a teacup Yorkie? Teacup” dogs generally have more health problems because of their small size. They are often runts of the litter or the result of taking two poorly bred dogs and breeding them to get smaller dogs. The age range is only 3-7 years, which is much shorter than a healthy, properly bred dog. Instead of getting a teacup Yorkie, just get a normal, well bred Yorkie. Normal Yorkies stay very small anyway, 3-7 lbs, and live 12-17 years. By getting a teacup dog, you are supporting backyard breeders and people who only breed for money. A good breeder should have show quality dogs, a pedigree, and vet certificates.

| Ehhhh teacup...... I feel like if they are using that word and acting like it’s a real thing then they are NOT educated in Yorkshire Terriers. I think yes mentally they don’t grow out of the puppy phase until 3 or 4 years old but generally they are done growing by 2.

| They do mention teacups are usually runts of the litter, also say stay away BYB,but it's their wording of teacups that got my dander up. It's impossible to educate ppl that there is no such thing as a teacup yorkie, there are just smaller then the standard yorkie being sold. All around me I see teacup yorkie wording. Last week I took Cody to Loews, he's sitting in the baby seat of the cart, an older man comes over and asks what breed was he, the blood always rushes to my face these days when I'm asked that. I tell him he's a yorkie just bigger then the standard. The man says he has 2 teacups I say there is no such thing as a teacup, a yorkie is a yorkie no matter if they weigh 2 Lbs or 15 Lbs. He goes on to say they are very picky eaters, we have to feed them BBQ chicken, I say I hope you have money saved because you're killing your dogs with that. I had to walk away, the thought of anyone feeding BBQ chicken to any dog, I was ready to go off on him. There is just no educating. I give up.

| Omg besides teacup - the wording "normal yorkie" is ugrr. Breed standard sound much better. I have a woman in my building who has a 3 lb yorkie girl, who she refers to a ZERO SIZE yorkie and because my Mike is larger than usual at 10 lb she keeps referring to him as "strange" and "whatever breed your dog is".. When I asked what she was feeding her girl, she said "Don't know, something good from the petshop". Goes without saying we try to avoid bumping into her. I always want to exchange opinions but in some cases arguing is just not worth the nerves. |

| LOL zero size lol, that's a new one for me lol. My kid weighs 12 Lbs, last year again at Loews, Cody again in the baby seat of the shopping cart a young man comes over fawning all over my boy then asks, what MIX he was. WHAT!!!!! I tell him he's a pure yorkie but over standard size. He tells me he has a mix dog, the blood was still rushing in my ears so I can't remember what his mix was but it wasn't a yorkie mix. Because they are now cross breeding these dogs ,now my teapot kid is being taken as a mix, just blows me away. That lady in your building is horrible referring to Mike as strange dog, and whatever breed, how rude. I would avoid someone like that also. My 12 pounder is tiny to me compared to my last girl that weighed in at 17 Lbs. Not an once of fat, she was sleek and beautiful.

| We had a pet fair at our fair grounds and my dad runs Honey Bee Rescue of Southern Maryland so he had a booth set up so I had Callie in her stroller sitting with him while I took Joey around the rest of the fairgrounds. Well I came back sat in a chair next to the stroller and had Joey in the stroller with Callie. Well these two older ladies came by and said hi to the pups and started talking to me wanting to know weights and stuff. Well I said all their weight and said Ollie last that he was 10 pounds and one of them goes oh well that would be more my weight then the others. Grumpy older women. I just smiled until they left.

| Yeah, here they don't really use the term "teacup", but go with numbers 0-1-2 (2 is the max). I guess next time someone asks I'll just say Mike is a size 4 yorkie Before I got Mike I seriously didn't ever think that there's a kind of size shaming/comparisons when it comes to dogs (of course I don't mean show dogs), I thought humans only did it to other humans. Well i was wrong |

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | I totally agree on the size shaming. My Bonnie IS a bit chunky and weighs close to 10 lbs but the vet wants her to be closer to 9 so she’s on a lower calorie food, but Junior is about 7.5 lbs and plenty lean and Dixie is about 4.5lbs but was expected to be bigger. She just had an illness as a pup and didn’t grow much while she was sick (vaccine issues for her first set of shots). People think Dixie is the only “normal” size Yorkie. My new puppy is trending to be about 6-6.5 lbs. I guess she won’t be “normal” size either based on what some people say.😡 |
