| update! Blue Born Mack is turning 8! Hey Everyone! I dont check in often as our lives are very hectic. I did, however, want to give an update on our precious Mack. He is doing extremely well. In fact, over the past couple of years, I've had time to reflect and wonder why I was so concerned. I have had honeslty hundreds of messages these past 8 years asking about blue born pups. Althought they arent common, and are frowned upon, I have had the absolute pleasure in talking to so many people who have had blues. I know hard core breeders think these guys are a death sentence but thats kinda why I wanted to post. Majority of these "alien". "gene lacking", "bad seed". pups, are fine. I know I will catch alot of slack from this post and honestly thats ok. I came here (yorkie talk) scared and afraid 8 years ago. I had a 2 year old yorkie that we had bred for pick of the litter. My little sweet Mack was the only pup born. I knew immediatley he didnt look right and accused the other party of letting her girl out and about. After she swore to me she hadnt, I began to search the internet and found YORKIETALK. 8 years later.....Now, I know I got too caught up in what others thought. I stressed over my sweet boy, and I will admit he had many complications. Example. being a blue, we had him immnized twice. He then went to have his neuter almost a year later and still contracted parvo. Their immune systems are low. If you take a blue to the vet, hold them at all times, if you have to set them down, bring a blanket. If they need surgery, insist on staying to make sure they do not at anytime make contact with pups that may be sick. Other than that, these white haired, green eyed pups are fine. Are they yorkies? absolutely.....just a very special breed, and if loved correctly, the most special breed. Again, I dont want to make anyone upset or mad, but the members back in 2011 did a number on me. I thought I was a great dog owner and you guys made me think I was so incompetant. I dont want people to have to message me, Just read this post and know.....your pup may not be "normal" or "perfect" but being a blue in a yorkie world is not a death sentence. Mack is now 8 years old. His Daddy Bevo is 10. Bevo has bad knees which many yorkies do, but not Mack. We have spent $3,000 in the past 2 months on his knees (luxating Patella) very common in Yorkies.....no one ever tells you that...just tells you not to go to puppy mills, and not to breed, and not to buy a dog someone says will be a tiny or whatever. My final thing to say is. you either love dogs or you dont. If all you do is sit at home and read forums, then stop. I live a very active life. I work, own my own business, huband is asst fire chief, I have kids, and now grandkids, and yes 4 furkids, and reflecting back, this forum made me doubt my ability to make decisions regarding my animals. You guys made me second think everything and I dont want anyone else to ever have to experience that. Again, Mack is turning 8. My little white haired, green eyed man. He is still and has always been the sweetest little dog I have ever ever owned. he was NOT a failure.

| Going by the research I did you got very lucky and it doesn’t always turn out that way. I’m glad you got lucky. The parvo could have killed him and having a lower immune system is a pretty big deal. I have had my fair share of issues on this forum but I have to disagree that it’s as bad as you let it on to be. Heck most of the people from back then don’t even post any more. Sure you got flak for breeding because really that should be left to more profession breeders and not just a to do it thing but it happened and you did learn from it. You really have to be careful saying the most special and stuff because you risk unscrupulous people grabbing on to that are trying to perpesfully breed for them and that definitely wouldn’t be good. Lots of people talk about bad knees when mentioning what’s common issues with Yorkies so not sure what you mean. I talk about Callie’s knees all the time. I think telling people to stop reading this message forum is a bit extreme especially when all you have done in the last several years is come on here to post updates so I don’t feel you can go about judging it at this point. Lots of people who were on here made life long friends with other members. If a message forum got into your head that bad it may not be for you and that happens sometimes. It’s kind of offensive to be like don’t sit at home reading this and go out and get active when you don’t really know that every one can do that. I know at least two of us on here that are disabled and several members are older. I guess I don’t get why you keep coming back if you hate this place so much. Sorry but I love this place and just don’t feel like the bashing is warranted. My opinion I guess.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | That's great that your pup is doing so well since many blue-borns do very poorly and live tough lives with so many health issues. He sounds like such a special little one. Where did someone here call your pup a 'bad seed' or an 'alien'...? I don't recall seeing that but will edit those posts if someone did. Please link those posts in a reply below so I can help. I'm sure when he was a puppy that many/most members expressed a ton of concern about what you were facing - and to me, that would be the responsible thing to do for a member that could be dealing with a very complicated puppy. But no one can 'make you feel incompetent' or force you to second guess yourself - only you can let that happen, no else can control what you feel. Lastly, I have no idea what you're trying to say when you make assumptions about anyone who reads forums (or facebook? or google? or...?) - and then further implying if they're online they must then have no life. If that's true, then using your logic - you also must have no life since you too are online, on a forum, and feel the need to update those whose opinions you place no value upon anyway....? If your goal here is to denigrate other human beings and their opinions/views on a board whose very pupose is *discussion* - I don't think that'll be successful for you. However, if your goal is celebrate the life and health of Mack, I'm sure many people would be happy to hear of how well he's done. Best of luck and it's wonderful he's been so lucky and is doing so well!
