| Reputable breeders in Georgia/FL My sweet baby of 14 years recently passed from cancer. My heart is still broken and will be forever but I am beginning to look for another girl to love. I want a small apple-head girl that is blonde in color, if this is possible. Will consider age up to a year and no breeding intentions. We live in south GA and are willing to travel to FL or GA to find our sweet girl. Have vet recommendation. |

| I don’t think reputable breeders breed for Apple headed Yorkies.

| First stop for a reputable yorkie breeder is YTCA.org Try there , send some emails, make some calls and see who is a fit on your criteria.

| I’d definitely go to the YTCA website for a start. FWIW, I picked a YTCA Breeder at random and discovered they have bred a grand champion show dog that looks a lot like an apple headed yorkie. I’m not a judge, not even pretending, but I own an apple headed yorkie who looks like he has a very similar shaped head to the dog pictured. First, find a Breeder you trust. Then make your own decisions. |

1---Anytime you have a breeder who is purposely trying to produce pups with a cranial structure other than what is standard for the breed, you are playing with fire, IMO. Be it apple-headed, or the 'baby doll faced' yorkies you hear about. Not a good thing. 2---Be careful, a lot of times the rounder head is associated with an open fontanel. 3----Yes and often with that can be hydrocephalus. The brain contains fluid filled chambers. In hydrocephalus, those chambers have way too much fluid. The fontanel may never close. the excess fluid can cause pressure on the brain and early death often results. Also often you will see eyes a little more wide set. Yes they look cute perhaps but they have a very big problem that can be terminal way sooner than you think. Hydrocephalus literally means “water on the brain.” The “water” is actually an excess of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that has leaked inside the skull, leading to brain swelling. CSF is the fluid that surrounds the brain and spinal cord, providing both nutrients and protection. Buildup of CSF can occur in the brain if the flow or absorption of CSF is blocked or too much CSF is produced by the body. This leads to increased pressure within the skull that presses on the sensitive brain tissues. Increased intracranial pressure can lead to permanent, irreversible brain damage and death. I would stay away from any breeder that breeds for Apple-head or Baby Doll yorkies.
