| Why not the terrier group? Why are Yorkshire Terrier's in the toy group not the terrier group? It kinda bugs me because mine are full terriers. Mine all have a hunt and prey drive. They were used for ratting so I just don't get it. I'm also not sure why there size was bred down so if anyone has that answer I would enjoy that too.

| Yeah, it is weird. Silky Terriers are in the toy group as well. And both Yorkies and Silky's are VERY terrier, IMO. Jackson has INSANE prey drive and has killed 2 rabbits.

| All of mine have a huge prey drive although Callie’s has slowed down a bit. Joey can smell out a ball if it gets lost during fetch like crazy if you tell him to hunt it it’s amazing his nose.

| You are correct in your thinking, and when I had standard poodles who, were water dogs/retrievers but are shown in non-sporting class.

| Once Piper is "onto" a varmint, ain't nothin' but nothin' gonna deter her from her mission. I mean, there is nothing one can do to divert her attention for more than a nano-second; believe me, I've tried! As for the size, some of it was to enable the dogs to be carried in hunters coat pockets (while riding) so if a critter was spotted, they'd just reach in and drop 'em down. Plus, the dogs could get into more places in factories, etc. Just some of the stuff I've come across, factual or not, I'm unsure! |

My Freya leans more towards good natured lap dog lol. Not saying she doesn't have a terrier in her lol. As time goes by more of that is revealed. I really don't know why, tho. Referring to what you said. I'm new to all this. I've researched some and have a Yorkie book, but I dunno... I always thought they bred them down to better fit in the holes to go after the ratties.
